    Divi's trip - Nov 26 - Dec 5

Hi everyone! Finally in Aruba and weather has been great with the exception of yesterday which I am sure the faithful posters have told you. My report will be quite boring to say the least but so far here it is:
Arrival on Thanksgiving Day was long but very smooth. Up at 1 am for 6 am flight, Went to car shuttle drop off near BDL and at BDL by 3;45, empty, very, very nice and helpful AA worker who helped us scan our pre-printed boarding passes and then onto drop off luggage. We were lucky and chosen for pre-tsa check scan, talk about a breeze and nice, did not have to take out lap top of bag, no need for DH to take off his jacket (I packed mine at home as it was pretty warm when we left), left shoes on etc. Were done with it all by 4 am, now had a 2 hr. wait (dh loves this of course) I do not mind. At least DD opens at 4:30 now used to be 5 and their line was so organized and fast! First flight to Charlotte nice and easy, 3 hr layover at Charlotte for Aruba but i once again would rather this than rush, had time to get a "freshly made" grinder/sub instead of soggy pre-made for the flight. I paid more $$$ than I will admit for "extra so called room" a/k/a bulkhead. If this is more room, I really would hate to see that the other seats had. I have been having neck issues and by the time I landed my neck was so stiff I had a migraine but nothing a good night's sleep did not cure. After getting my room (2nd requested not my 1st choice but room next door so ok) DH opened slider and went outside to find our friends we met here years ago from Boston awaiting us and welcoming us. Went to beach bar for few cold balashi's then off to buffet, did not each much was so tired, did not sleep too well due to my headache. By Saturday back to feeling normal, Yeah! Now our time to await and welcome our friends from the Bronx! They had a long line at immigration and their plane actually could not land due to too many on the tarmac at once. Forgot to mention our flight landed around 4;15 and we lucked out, no one downstairs and were chosen for the "One Happy Flow" line and it was indeed happy and quick! Now waiting for my beautiful new luggage. Did I mention how beautiful my new luggage is? Aruba turquoise hard cover, I must have had at least 7 raving remarks on it, even a lot of men, shuttle drivers, tsa workers etc. Now you know I wasn't born yesterday, I totally understand and expect it not to be so beautiful once it comes off the belt. However, it looks pretty good except for one skid mark on one piece, who cares? At least it is out of the way. But.......when I opened one, I had a lovely note that it was opened by TSA, no problem I have nothing to hide, except they torn my liner to shreds!!!!! Mind you, my liner has zippers so you can place things (I had my bras, sorry guys TMI) behind it, but all they had to do is "unzip it" instead somehow it is torn, torn, torn........very upset by this. Oh well in Aruba I will get over it, at least we made it here in one piece. Saturday out friends from Bronx showed up, asked for room next to us, at least we will have quiet neighbors. I was very excited they brought me a present and it is so cool.... you all know how much of a Red Sox fan/Xander fan I am. They brought me 2 baseball cards laminated, one a Xander rookie card and the other Xander special edition card that has a piece of one of his worn jersey in it!!!!! WOW~~~~ very happy and did I mention they are Yankee fans? SO we all ate together and partied together for a while. Sunday, mother nature being very naughty! Crazy rain and crazier waves......The waves have been coming up to the beach bar at night, I can hear them all night long (which I must say I enjoy, you can never hear them at night with the doors shut). However the poor beach is half gone. I wasn't even able to take my normal walk. DH feeling poorly on Sunday, so we did nothing at all day/night. Hoping he would feel better today, no such luck, now he tells me he is getting dizzy! Way to stress me~! He came down with a cold 1 week before we were due to leave, now he has a crazy cough (and now I do as well) other than that I feel fine but am trying to apologize to any/all neighbors sorry they hear us coughing all night thru the walls! Had plans to go downtown tonight and West Deck, now he does not feel like it (another boring night for me) I hope he feels better tomorrow or I'm trading him in for a younger one(kidding people, only kidding)......I just know our time is running out. I bought him nose spray today, got him off the other pills he has been on and doing nothing. Have dinner plans at Passions for Weds. hope we can make it.. This report is starting to sound depressing, sorry!

On a good note, I did walk around 2 miles today, walked as far as I could to Tam and back on the road side, to DD a couple times etc. Took a bunch of pics hope I can post (mostly of Tam) to show the craziness of waves/beach erosion etc. saw a few local kids surfing the waves yesterday but felt they know what they are doing. Not too many resort visitors brave enough (or stupid enough) to play with mother nature. I hope it calms down really would hate not to put more than my toes in the ocean before I leave. seems a little better today. Ran into Peg and her nice DH Tom (who by the way, has the best tropical shirts) they are both sweethearts!
Did enjoy laying in the sun all day today getting a good base already! I just went to beach bar to get a mudslide (1st one of trip) I have never met TraceyD but have seen her and dh pic on forum, I swear it was them at the bar, and I don't think they had resort bracelets on, probably should have asked but why would they be here? They must have a twin! Another couple of these mudslides I will ask (lol)
I have not posted not only because I haven't done anything but was told only free wifi in lobby, well now when I log on I get the site that lets you buy wifi. I called to ask about it they say no they don't have it, only free in lobby. Well I figured I would try anyways, guess what they have it and I bought a few days! I would prefer to check emails etc. while on my patio early am or a night, sure which I knew yesterday! So here I am, wish me luck that my trip and dh gets more exciting soon! Still awaiting my first Amstel Bright (or bucket of Brights)

Hi DiviDiviFan! Despite everything going on, you still have not lost your humor!

What I noticed first: Your early, really early start of your vacation. 1 a.m.! Oh no! I did it once many years ago, not by choice but there was no other flights and it gave me a bad migraine headache. When I finally had arrived at my vacation destination (Morocco), the room was not ready, still stinky baby diapers in it! I demanded another room, of course, and when the guy at the reception tried to argue with me, I turned into a beast! LOL

Your luggage sounds so nice and pretty! So sorry, they ripped the liner to shreds. Unforgivable! Hopefully, there is a way to have it replaced. I would take photos of it, report it at Aruba airport if you have a chance. But definitely report it right away after you land at your home airport.

Hope you and your DH will get over the cold quickly and enjoy your stay in Paradise to the fullest!

DH says he is feeling better and hopes to be back to his old self tomorrow. We think too many different types of pills/trying to rid himself of his blocked ears and cough in addition to his BP meds. Not taking anything now and he feels much better. Behaving tonight and fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Renovations have been moving quickly for new 4 story bldg. lots of progress in just the few days we have been here. I believe although it will add more people it will be quite nice. Green walls have been hiding a lot of the work but today we walked up 2nd floor of Vista 2 bldg and saw the "huge' pool being built, it is going to be quite nice. Time will tell how crowded the beach and restaurants will become. I'm glad we have our same housekeeper Yvonne as she is retiring next month so we will be able to give her an extra something for all she has done. I gave my breakfast lady Anita her gift on Sunday, she put it under the counter then while we were eating made a special trip to our table to give me a great big hug, love her! Lots of iguanas all over this year, have to watch where you step :-)

Glad your hubby is feeling better. I do hope you get to West Deck. We went tonight and enjoyed it. What's nice about it is they have small plates so you can get a few items and share. We didn't get dessert but the people next to us did and they looked fabulous!

I am ready for my 2 weeks at Divi Aruba AI starting 1/7, but I keep reading about wifi only in the lobby. Does this mean that the business center off the lobby is closed?

    glad he is feeling better

if his cough is bothersome, head over to the pharmacist at the botica near the hospital.
he/sh can recommend something real good.
my husband is on bp medicine too (lisinopril) and the pharmacist gave him a cough medicine that worked well and did not interact with his medicine.

    continue to have fun
