hate aruba

just got back from aruba, 3 things to mention. over priced..over developed..over populated. do your selfs a favor and try another island closer to the states. not worth the travel time and the money. try bermuda much cleaner and not over developed and closer to home. i know i will take some grief for this thread, but get over it, aruba is overrated

Bermuda is OVERPRICED as well. And the weather in the winter is not much to write home about.

Overpopulated Aruba? It's getting there - but I think it still has a small Island feel.
Overpriced - you need to know where to find a bargain like anywhere. The Island is still cheaper than home in NJ for me.

we here respect other's opinion and you will receive no grief....as moderators we will not allow it. but, i do have to say your words (and i quote) "but get over it" are inappropriate and will indeed add to negative replies and therefore make the moderating job even more difficult.

there is a warm weather island for you.
keep looking and when you find it, kick back and enjoy.

I too love Bermuda, and know it better than any other island, but I also love Aruba for it's special characteristics -- unbelievable beaches, unbelievable weather (ALL the time!), unbelievable exploring opportunities. Sorry you were not able to enjoy this very wonderful island.

I have been to Bermuda 3 times - once on business, twice on vacation- and I do like the island. It is a nice short flight from the East Coast, but
1) the restaurants are nowhere as good as Aruba
2) the weather is only good for the beach 3 months a year
3) lots of hurricanes
4) you can't rent a car so getting around is either expensive by cab or dangerous on a moped
5) the snorkeling is lousy

That's why we bought a TS in Aruba, and as someone else in this community said so appropriately, thanks for leaving an open spot on the beach for us. Can't wait to see our Aruban friends on Monday!!

safe travels jeffnev.

and
since i did mention in my reply to Hate Aruba that he/she would be respected, i thought i would post this from the forum's rules....
"Have respect for other opinions. If you disagree with someone, do not attack them personally. Try to make thoughtful comments about their opinion, perspective, assumptions, etc., but do not attack them personally. Everyone has an opinion based on a number of different factors, like their own personal experiences, values, etc. If someone disagrees with you, it is probably because they value one thing more than another. Attacking them does nothing but create anger and resentment. Discussing the values and perspective that underlies their opinions may increase your understanding and it may encourage them to see your perspective as well. Personal attacks are the tools of someone who probably doesn’t have a very good point to make, or of someone who holds a belief that has no foundation in reasoned thought."

Everyone has their opinion! At least you can say you tried it - I hope you were able to enjoy some of your visit. Enjoy Bermuda!
