Smile January 14 to January 24 Trip Report

Thursday, 1/14-Left Boston on 5:45AM Delta flight through Atlanta. Arrived in Aruba at 3PM. We took a taxi to Divi Aruba and thus began our 11 days in paradise. We were welcomed and received the Casita room I had requested-right on the beach. We were exhausted from having to get up a 2AM, but sat on the beach and enjoyed the sun. Ate at Red Parrot--the food much better than before. Listened to music and got ready for the rest of our vacation.

Friday, Breakfast, Beach, Lunch, Pool, oh what a great day. Went to Passions for dinner at sunset 6:30PM and while the appetizer and caesar salad were out of this world, our entree of Filet Mignon and shrimp was a disaster. The Filet was more a rib eye and was so fatty that this was all you could taste. I have emailed the GM. Casino and then music on the beach.

Saturday, another perfect day- golf for 9 holes at Divi, beach by 12:30PM. pool, bar etc. Dinner at Madame Jeanette's was not as memorable as the many times in the past. Service was hurried. I had to ask for more time before ordering. Salad came less than 2 minutes after ordering. We had a 6:30 reservation and were in our car at 7:30--We will try again next year. Casino and dancing again.

Sunday, paradise again. Dinner at Gianni's was perfect. Casino and music was fine.

Monday, again a perfect day. Dinner at Red Parrott again and it was great.

Tuesday, same as every day, but 4 yes 4 drops of rain touched my arm--only rain our entire visit. Dinner at Italian restaurant at the Tam. Service needs a lot of help, but food was very good. Good night at Casino.

Wednesday, Golf again and back to beach by 12:30. Fabulous day and then dinner at El Gaucho. We haven't been in a while because our experiences had been just so so. Our meal was great, steak was fabulous. Casino-loser but lots of fun.

Thursday, a bit windier than ever, waves too high for swimming. JUST HAD TO GO TO POOL. Wow, such a disaster!!! Best dinner ever-Mirandi, I had never heard of before reading about it on this forum. Got lost getting there, but what a setting, what a beautiful place to eat dinner. We were seated at a table for 2 on the pier, right on the water. Service, ambience, and the food were all superb. We must recommend this restaurant to all.

Friday, another perfect day in paradise. Dinner at Red Parrot and again it was great.

Saturday, paradise, bur alas I can feel the cold of Boston coming. Dinner at Italian restaurant at the Tam. Service better, but again needs work, food is fine. Casino and music again.

Sunday, pool, breakfast and pack. With our flight at 4PM we needed to be at airport by 1PM. Had a quick bite and into a taxi by 12:30. Never ending lines at airport. But got to our gate by 2:30. The end of the perfect Aruba vacation. Yet, what could go wrong---terrible rain in Atlanta, a plane, but no crew. Our 9:45 flight finally leaves at 11:45. In bed by 4AM

Whatever, we will be back to paradise again soon

A fun post to read -- thanks! Sorry you had to come home to this lovely New England weather! We're leaving cold blustery Cape Cod next month for 2 -week stay (Jetblue out of Boston) -- can't wait to get back to Aruba!

Thanks. Yes we dropped right into bed at 4AM.

Heard back from Passions GM apologyzing and asking us to make our next reservation directly through him.

Yes, anyone who has not tried Mirandi--please do. It is still on our minds. For those who care--Mirandi is not inexpensive, but was worth every penny to us.

We are planning trip #8
