Well son and DIL are off and our stay is now halfway over. Trying to focus on the days remaining versus the ones already passed. Explain to me how island time, which seems to move so slow, can fly by so quickly?

Yesterday was a full day of beach and pool. The most adventurous thing we did was actually get off our lounges and go to the bar for happy hour drinks. Lol. Dinner was at Azzuro. Great seat at the railing for sunset. We shared some apps and all had the pasta cheese wheel with sides of meatballs and sausage. Meatballs were yummy but didn't care for the sausage which was like a thinly sliced chorizo. We each had a glass of wine, with a free coupon that was handed out on the beach. It was a very generous pour. Then shared a bottle of prosecco, and they ended up giving us complimentary limoncello after dinner - very large glasses of it on the rocks. We were all dreading drinking it as none of us are fans, but have to say this stuff was yummy. We all enjoyed.

Followed up with the Beach Bar bar for kids last night caps. Ended up closing them down I think around 11 ;-)

Salt and Pepper for breakfast again this morning, then took kids to airport. DIL was nervous about the required time and wanted to get there 4 hours early as recommended upon arrival. They were at the gate in less than an hour. Better safe than sorry, but when we depart next Saturday we will allow 2.5 hours. After dropping them off, we stopped at Lings to stock up on beer and mixers for the room. Then we just went out driving around. Stopped at arashi, lighthouse and tried to find alto vista chapel which always escapes us. We were also planning on locating the entrance to the stairs at Hooiberg, as we want to climb this week, but hubs started not feeling well. So we came back to the room so he could lay down for a while. Was planning on the Beach Bar to catch the Derby this afternoon but will have to see how he feels. This actually worked out well because we have to switch rooms tomorrow so I've used this time to pack things up and get a couple loads of laundry done. We have to depart this room by noon tomorrow and the staff will move all of our luggage, refrigerator contents, etc to our new room no later than 3. While it's an efficient process, it's still a pain to have to unsettle then resettle, plus there's up to a 3 hour window of time where you have no access to your room or stuff. We are considering selling our week 18 2 br and purchasing 2 weeks in a studio or 1 br. We would do this if we can find 2 weeks in the same unit. But...that's a decision for later. I don't want to pull the trigger on anything while I'm here and end up with buyers remorse.

I would trade 1 week for two any day, lol. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Sounds like a busy day, and except for the DH not feeling well a good time. We changed rooms yesterday.

DH pulled himself up by his bootstraps and we ended up having a really fun night - again at the Beach Bar - I warned you from the start we are pretty boring, creatures of habit. Lol. Full bar for the derby. Met a great couple from Chicago who invited us to join them at Sopranos which we intended to do. But Claudia passed me the iPad to control the music which we shared back and forth with our new friends and taking requests from others. We drank and sang until 11. Stupidly what we did not do, was have dinner. Said goodbye to our new friends as they are leaving today.

Sundays are empty on the beach here as it starts a new week so no problem securing a front row chickee when I awoke at 6. I think there are still front ones open now at 8:30. About to head down to start the day. We will stay on the beach today at least until our room is switched over. Debating on trying to get reservations for Barefoot or MJs tonight. We never need reservations this time of year but with today being Mother's Day, not sure if/where we will get in. Also hoping to catch up with Walt and Mrs Walt tonight or tomorrow night.

Riggt now im off to treat myself to a Mother's Day acai bowl :-)

sounds like a nice day planned...and being a boring creature of habit is perfect.

re: madame janette's...they are usually closed on sundays. (maybe an exception though since it is mother's day)

We ended up passing on Mother's Day dinner for a bottle of wine and cheese and fruit on the beach watching the sunset. Perfect! Headed down to Moomba to meet up with Walt and Pam. Had a great time with them and enjoyed the band Joyride.

Spent this morning on the beach. Walked down to Bugaloe where we had our first disappointing lunch of the trip. We usually enjoy Bugaloe but today everything was just off, hopefully just an anomaly, we won't give up on them over one bad experience.

Back to to the beach for a couple more hours before cleaning up and picking up Walt and Pam for the BB party at Amsterdam manor. There were several folks there but they didn't seem to be from this forum and we ended up sitting off to the side and had our own party which was fine. Perfect company and easy conversation. We all wanted to go to local store for wings but when we got over there they were closed. That place continues to elude us. Walt mentioned that Cafe 080 was around the corner so we decided to give them a try. Nice Dutch bar with mostly outside seating. It was mainly snack type food which was perfect. Great fries! Walt and I tried some hotdog type of thing which was recommended by the waiter. Pretty good. I can't remember what it was called though. Hubs had something with pork similar to a big egg roll. He liked it. I'd return here, just don't go expecting a real dinner. We finished our drinks and called it an early night. Will get together with our new friends again this week before we depart on Saturday. Starting to count down the days now :-(

past couple days have been very very hot, not much wind to provide relief. Today was mostly overcast and the wind returned but still very humid with heat index over 100. Only feels comfortable in the water. Hoping our last few days will return to usual Aruba weather.

Loving your time in Aruba..... forget the 'countdown' and just enjoy the days ahead of you like you've enjoyed the days behind you. After all, I'm stuck here and not in Aruba!!!

I bet it was frikadellen that you had they kind of look like a hot dog. We enjoy Cafe 080. The owners are super friendly!

The fries were great for sure. I did get a kick out of their menu which was mostly fries.

Peg - frikadellen sounds right, and I think what hubs had was something like shoarma?
