Agree that the aruba ritz lacks the tropical feel but imo it is quite lovely.
Sort of does resemble a more business look than resort look. To each their own.
I was unaware that the sand on the beach there is rough and shell-like.

    Safe travels home!

I'll be thinking of the story about your wife's visit. I know someone even worse than that. Hope, she will not be there when I'm there! LOL

Safe travels home! Really enjoyed your reports. Take care of that foot/ankle - you have to be 100% better for your next trip and vow renewal!

Thanks for the well wishes, I made it home safe and sound. It was great to see my family and my 2 dogs. Today was a pretty easy travel day. I was able to get thru the entire process from waiting in line to get my boarding pass (15 min) to being seated at my gate in only 30 minutes flat, if that! If I was smart enough to check in ahead of time and print my boarding pass it would have been a grand total of 15 min max. I never had to wait at any point in the process, it could have been less than 15 minutes to be honest. That said, I arrived 3.5 hours early for my flight and was there before all but 6 families or so headed to NY so it was pretty smooth sailing. There was another flight going somewhere but it was easy for sure. The VIP lounge was closed for renovations so I was unable to relax in the AC, watch tv and eat free food, lol. It looks like it will be really nice when complete. The plane landed almost 30 min early and there was limited traffic leaving Boston at 6pm. I think everyone in Boston banged in sick and headed to the beach today, it was 93 degrees when we landed.

The day was pretty easy as far as a travel day goes. Thanks for coming along on my somewhat lazy adventure.

I would agree the outside grounds lack in comparison to the Hyatts, Hiltons etc...the inside however is very classy and the rooms are excellent. That said, the thing that sets the Ritz apart is their service, without that it would be a hotel at the end of the strip. I believe the Hyatt has the nicest grounds on the island for sure....not close IMO but I have not seen all of the hotels personally- like the Bucuti for instance.

I had fun writing the posts each day. Thanks for coming along to play. I am missing Aruba a little but I am psyched to spend the day with my son tomorrow. I am going to take him to the arcade tomorrow- he loves to earn the tickets and "win" a prize.

Despite not eating very much at all and doing more walking than I do at home, I still gained over 6 pounds in 6 nights. That is a skill I have mastered while on vacation, lol. The food calories did not add up for me this trip but the bacardi and diet cokes made up for anything lacking in my diet

So glad you made it back safe... when we were taking off it was down pouring. lol but didn't mind cause I was leaving paradise.
Looking forward to your next review... yes it is great to be back with our family.. my two babies went into the pool with me. Had to pull them around the pull on my float; spoiled boys.. now they are napping .. on each side of me. If I move they wake up. Funny.. and funnier as I was unpacking they were packing their toys..

I was from Mass.. born at the Chelsea Navy Base; then Brighton as a child and finally Cape Cod.
But hate to say all I miss is the food... lol
