The Most Memorable Vacation
Celebrating 10 years of Marriage
Paradise 2006
I can remember our vacation like yesterday. My husband and I traveled to Aruba for the second time in August of 2006. We were celebrating our 10-year wedding anniversary. We used our timeshare week in Aruba and stayed at the La Cabana Beach and Racquet Club. The resort is located on one of the finest beaches in Aruba and that is Eagle Beach.
From the time we stepped of the plane we knew we didn’t want to leave the beautiful island. We took a cab from the airport to the La Cabana and checked in within minutes. The front desk staff was very attentive and courteous as well as the concierge desk. They all helped in making this a magical vacation, from making dinner reservations to booking excursions and so much more.
The view from our room was just breathtaking, we would watch the sunset from our room just about every night. The resort had entertainment daily and offered plenty of activities to keep you busy. The grounds were immaculate and the staff was very accommodating at all times.
We went to the beach everyday and enjoyed all of the natural beauty the island offers. The beach had plenty of cabanas and of course they offered happy hour every afternoon. The ocean just sparkles at you and you can’t help but fall in love with the island.
The day of our wedding anniversary we decided to go out to dinner, the concierge at
La Cabana suggested Tango’s; she was so kind and made our reservations. When we arrived we were greeted and seated promptly. My husband stepped away from our table for a moment and as I was waiting for him to return, the band starting playing - You look Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton. I was enjoying the music and thought what a great song for a special occasion. He finally returned to our table and we placed our order for drinks. The waitress returned with a plate covered, she lifted the serving cover and to my surprise there was a jewelry box with a beautiful Diamond Ring sparkling right at me! My first reaction was ‘This waitress must be at the wrong table’ I looked at my husband and he just smiled, then I looked back at the waitress and said ‘that’s for me’
She said yes and all I could do was cry. The entire restaurant was applauding and the band was still playing, I finally put the ring on and at that very moment I fell in love with my husband all over again.
After dinner we went down to the Holiday Inn, they have a casino that we like and my husband was playing slots when the bells started to ring he called me over to see what was going on. He had won a jackpot and didn’t even know it. One of the casino employees came over took his picture and handed over some cash. We both hit the jackpot that evening!
The people of Aruba are the most friendliest that we have met, they are very gentle and sincere. The island is very captivating and you will never want to leave! We hope to make another visit very soon. This trip was the most memorable vacation ever!
