Your Aruba vacation is quite different from the beach vacation most of us enjoy but I have to say it sounds fabulous. How fun to be able to interact with all the kids while playing their favorite sport! Enjoy!!

Yes Peg it is FUN i am sure for Rich to be umpiring in Aruba

I find it a wonderful and incredibly unselfish thing that Rich is giving his time to umpire in Aruba.
What a wonderful thing,"giving to the kids!!!"
    How very unselfish.

Kudos to you RPUMPIRE aka Rich for giving of your time and talent.

Sounds like the first game of the season was a great time. Can't wait to hear more about your experiences.

Shoes polished, uniform pants pressed (never thought I’d be ironing in Aruba when I started coming here in 1989!), I got to Pos Chiquito in my trusty rental car, joined up with my Aruban umpire friends, but there was no game. Apparently the windstorm that knocked the light tower down a week or two ago has rendered the field in Noord unusable, and they have been having schedule snafus – the field we were going to using was already being used.

I am disappointed that I didn’t get to umpire tonight, but I got to go out and enjoy another evening with my umpire friends. We stopped by one of the umpire’s houses (right near the base of Hooiberg) and I got reacquainted with his wife and kids. The three umpires then went back to the Four Seas bar/restaurant and we repeated our post-game ritual from last night.
Looks like I now have games scheduled for Friday night and Saturday afternoon. I had to decline an opportunity for Sunday. Switching resorts and rental cars and all of the related logistics would make it impossible.
Spent today not doing much at all, save for a couple of hours at the pool. Then, I napped and got ready for my game.
After getting back to La Cabana, I found the internet to be out completely, so I decided to make a short trip downstairs to the casino to try and visit some of the money I left there before. I was down and about ready to call it at night when I hit 4 aces on a VP machine for $625. I cashed out immediately and finally finished a night ahead for a change.
Thursday’s game plan is probably a few hours beach or pool here, but I am likely going to spend tomorrow evening at my usual home base of Palm Beach.

That was yesterday’s update – planned to post last night, but La Cabana internet was completely out and remains so this morning. I took a trip to Palm Beach with a load of laundry to drop off at Quickie Lickie – they provide a great service, by the way – and then set up shop in Playa Lina’s lobby and The Beach Bar so I can use a good reliable internet for a couple hours.

lacabana is "supposedly" upgrading their internet, before summer.

That was my third four-of-a-kind at Glitz. They have one "full pay" VP machine (folks who regularly play video poker knows what that means). It's only at the $5 level. I wanted to get on that machine right away, but there was a woman on there mindlessly playing nickel keno (it's a multi-game machine). The bar top dollar VP machines have 8-6 pay tables, but the progressive Royal Flush bonus is $8000+. (Jacks or better game).

By the way, my La Cabana internet is back after nearly 24 hours outage. It seems to be OK now. Fingers crossed that it will stay this way through Sunday!

Thanks for the Glitz info. I'm sure I'll be playing there this year since we're finally staying on Eagle Beach.....
