I enjoyed the Four Seas. I never saw a menu, but the appetizers my Aruba umpire friends ordered for us were tasty and plentiful. Plenty of traffic in and out for take out, so the locals must find this to be a good place.

It is on one of the interior roads between Oranjestad and Noord. I think, most likely, it is in Tanki Leendert.

Spent my Thursday evening in usual haunts on Palm Beach.

I met one of my umpire friends and his wife at The Beach Bar at Playa Linda. His wife worked for years with Claudia and Sassy, the bartenders there. They only see each other now when I come to Aruba, so everyone looks forward to those occasions.

I had my usual "Greatest Burger in Paradise" at Smokey Joe's, then set off for the Hyatt Casino. Made good hits on both blackjack and video poker and came away with a solid win. Not quite even for the trip, but heading in the right direction!

Got to renew acquaintances with the band at Hyatt (they play on the stage above the bar). Singer and lead guitarist Felix was celebrating his 65th birthday. He is awesome!

Probably a couple hours beach or pool time tomorrow, then getting ready for another baseball game to umpire. Friday evening, I am doing the plate for a LL game at Aruba Juniors field near Oranjestad, then the plate again Saturday at noon at Pos Chiquito. Gonna need the sunscreen for that one!

Glad I packed plenty of Advil. My knees will be barking at me by Saturday night. The old joints ain't what they used to be.

Not quite a quarter of the way through my trip, here are some random observations:

    - I am happy and surprised that I have been as active on the trip report as I have been. I was hoping for a post or two a week, but this has been fun doing it as a daily diary. No guarantees that I will keep up this pace, but if I can fight through the terrible La Cabana internet, it will be much easier for me from Playa Linda.

    - I can find my way to just about any location on the island, unless it's downtown. After 22 previous visits, I still get lost and befuddled on the streets of Oranjestad.

    - I haven't done too much picture taking, and any posts of pictures will probably have to wait until I get my stable Playa Linda internet.

    - And, finally for today, here is a link to a video I made back in December of a time lapse sunset from my balcony at Playa Linda:

I still have to find my Aruba game highlight video, but here's one of my other World Series plate game. The kids from Japan just kept fouling off pitches:

agree about the streets in O'staad.
no matter how often i am downtown, i always seem to get turned around and as you say "befuddled "
    why?

you have umpired the little league world series?

continue to trudge your way to a break even for the trip and then start setting aside for "next time"

    again, thanks for sharing

Love this group playing above the bar.... such a nice setting. Took DW there one evening last year (she doesn't like casinos) sat at the bar and hit 4 deuces for 1000 while they played.... that did impress her! .... and had to share the win but it was worth it!

The Hyatt Casino is far and away my favorite casino. The atmosphere is great in there, I have become friends with many of the folks who work there, and I always have a good time. I wish the poker machines had better paytables, but that's the price you pay for being in paradise!

Just a Saturday morning check-in from Aruba...

Nothing too exciting to report from Friday. Took care of a couple of errands in the morning. Then, a couple of hours at the pool, followed by a nice, long afternoon nap (the sleeping patterns of someone who had worked overnights for so many years don't change immediately).

I umpired a 7:00 evening Little League in Oranjestad. It was my first plate game of the year calling balls and strikes. It was fun for me, despite the fact that the game was a blow-out, shortened to four innings by the 10-run "mercy" rule.

I have a 1:00 game on the bases for a Big League (16-18 year-olds) game Saturday in Pos Chiquito. Sunscreen to be applied and hydration plan in effect!

Despite the sun and heat in Aruba, it is not that uncomfortable to umpire, even wearing all the equipment. A big thank-you for the ever-present breeze in Aruba!

Hard to believe it's my seventh day here already. Later today, I'll have to begin preparing for tomorrow's moving day from La Cabana to Playa Linda. In addition to the resort move, I have to return a rental car to Aruba Royal and pick up my next rental from Tropic. Grocery shopping (maybe Ling & Sons, maybe Super Food) is also on the agenda.

Although I am nearly a week into my vacation, knowing I still have two weeks ahead of me here is a great feeling. With a longer trip, you don't have the stress (if you can call it that) of trying to do everything you want to do in Aruba all at once.

    More to come...
    Rich
