Exciting night! I have often thought about trying to ump slow pitch softball games but not sure if I could handle some of the backlash from coaches (and outspoken catchers like me). Job well done on your part. It sounds like he was trying to test your limits. If it's anythi ng like here, we get used to the same umps and know which ones we can push and which ones we can't.
What happened with the fire? We have never noticed a fire truck on the island, I'm sure they have them, just never seen one.
Not sure when, but we will be back

Wow! Memorable is right! Is it common to have only one adult coach for a team? We generally have too many coaches IMO

Another nice day in Aruba yesterday. After my usual daytime routine, I went out to dinner with an Aruban umpire friend and his wife to El Gaucho, still one of my favorite restaurants here. It didn't disappoint. I had my usual Gaucho Steak. It was big and delicious. Good atmosphere, good food and good friends made for a nice night.

By the time I got changed after the game and got to the parking lot, the Aruba FD was on scene and had pretty much extinguished the fire. They were just raking and dousing what was left of the fire that was at the edge of the parking lot at the park.

For my post today, I have a driving video along LG Smith Blvd. from Kong Hing supermarket to the Seaport Mall taken on Good Friday..

Two things to notice from the video -- first, all the work being done in the "Free Zone" and Port Authority property -- second, just how quiet it is downtown on Good Friday. Wish some of those parking spaces were open on normal days when I am downtown.

    https://youtu.be/SJodlLQpvvk

By the way, the video is sped up -- I don't drive that fast!

Not much to report on my daily activities. It has just been the usual pool / lunch / nap daytime and bars and casinos by night. I have been making donations pretty regularly. The good days have been too few. I am down about half of my gambling budget with a week-and-a-day to go.

I realized I haven't updated in three days. Nothing too exciting to report. It has been mostly the same thing every day for me.

Yesterday, my friend and forum member, bderusha, arrived. We're both big Red Sox fans, so we caught their Opening Day victory at Champions sports bar at the Marriott. We tried to go to Touchdown sports bar across from the Radisson, but it wasn't open at 3:00 in the afternoon.

i guess that not many would want to catch opening day during prime beach time.
    that's too bad.

yup, 3 days...how are the royal flushes? or have they been flushed?

Do you ever watch games at Carlitos just outside of Playa Linda on the beach side? I was just wondering how they are for sporting events.
Not sure when, but we will be back

The Red Sox game was well worth watching and I don't watch many..... I am, however, watching for the Royal! Good luck with that!
