    My August trip

Thank you to all that helped me along the way. Our trip was amazing. We are considering a trip back , to possibly look at a property. I love the island as much today as I did on our first visit years ago.. Some things changed , some felt the same... all in all we loved it. I wrote a review and it disappeared.
We stayed at the Riu timeshare and did the all inclusive for the beginning of our stay. This consisted of waking up to the most amazing views of water, sand and sun.
The buffets were very good, plenty of food and lots of variety. I am not saying they were gourmet.
I thought the breakfast and lunch buffets to be the best.. the dinners in the specialty restaurants were good as were the dinner buffets. I just preferred the delicious buttermilk waffles and fresh fruit toppings to be a winner for us at breakfast and lunch offerings were very good.

The Pool and grounds were beautiful and clean. Our unit needed updating and felt that the owners must be itching for a change in that regard. I had wonderful experiences with the employees at the resort. I did not go into the casino as it was way to smoky for me. I love the location of this resort and was amazed at the serious progress being made in the new Riu (Old Westin Resort) .. for a island they are moving it.

I am sorry to hear that your review disappeared.

I typically advise to put it in a word or pages document and when done, copy and paste it to My Aruba Story thread.

Glad to hear that Aruba did not disappoint you

Time to start the plan for the next vacation. Thanks!

We rented our car from Hans at Tropic Car Rental... I can't say enough about how professional and punctual this man and his staff are.

We drove into town and were amazed at all the changes in both downtown and the high rise area. We arrived early evening and checked in, placed our luggage in the room and took a nice walk down the street. We took in all the sights and stopped to listen to the two man group singing in front of the restaurants on the small stage.
That night we ate at the Tango Argentine grill and it was a perfect start to our vacation. Escargot, Churrasco filet, grouper and my son ordered something called the extravaganza lol... he's 12

The next couple days were almost the same.. worked out in the gym@6 or 7 (while watching people run for palapas for their day) , or walked on beach followed by breakfast and pool and beach time. It was fun observing the pool bar open at 10am and there be a line. There were lots of people from Italy and Canada on our trips timeframe. I speak Italian, and some Spanish so was able to communicate with the Italians and help some folks out with some translations.
Each night we tried a new restaurant onsite you picked 6:30 or 9pm nightly and also did the buffet dinner. The buffets were themed dinners and you didn't have a set time to eat. I liked the Gourmet restaurant the best as they served a beautiful piece of Chilean Sea Bass that sat on a scalloped potato Yum! After dinner we listened to music, took a long walk and chatted up with other vacationers.

Are they enforcing the dress code that men have to wear long pants at the ala carte restaurants?

7 days had passed and I felt cheated. I honestly don't know where the time went but we applied sunscreen ALOT, swam, ran, played our way to Friday. When I woke up I ordered my favorite Cashew cake from Huchada in Santa Cruz. That night we left the pool early to do some shopping at Super Foods. Loved how clean and organized it was in there and close Prices were reasonable, cheese selection was amazing. I bought French and Holland cheeses and some snack foods to munch on as we opted out of AI for the last week. That night was our reservation at Madame Janette's . We had wonderful seafood appetizer and ordered almond grouper, Versace filet and surf and turf. followed by the apple strudel

Yes and even for the children. I don't like it by the way .. seems silly.. because nowhere we went did men wear pants after that.
