Next day drove to Santa Cruz picked up the cake and many , many, many other things LOL Honestly the french horns here are ridiculously good! During the day we ate breakfast early either out or in our room.. We ate all kinds of different places ...

Le Petit Cafe least favorite very slow service and food was just ehhh.
Moomba beach lunch delicious Mahi Mahi citrus platter, son loved their wings and some watermelon mojito's
    Pure beach lunch ok
    Pure Ocean breakfast good..
Went downtown one morning to shop and ate at the Aquarius buffet in the Renn. Mall very good.
Seriously loved being on the beach with no timeframe and eating at close places.. sad we didn't get to try Bugaloe.. we just ran out of time.
We walked from the Riu one night to the Aruba love festival next to the Ritz Carlton and the Fisherman's pier... didn't stay but loved watching all the young enjoying themselves.

Ok now for dinners out and about... of course Madame Janette's was good... and the man who played music was wonderful... but we didn't have a best meal at the local restaurants, (well that's not entirely true I will tell you about that soon) whey were all really good. Here's where we went

Ike's Bistro in the Manchebo... I don't know how this place doesn't get top reviews... service was amazing, food delicious and the chef even sent out a treat to our table ... Chillean Sea Bass A+ Grilled Grouper amazing best we had. and beef filet special.. mouth waveringly good.

Las Ramblas at the La Cabana ... loved it here at sunset. The food was surprisingly fresh and delicious. I loved the Seared Tuna, escargot, appetizer, the grilled lamb chops OMG were perfect. Argentina style steak so good ..

LG's Steakhouse it is somewhere we just love going to... the view ,the music and the menu... always consistent and I have never had bad service . We all ordered steaks except the little one wanted lobster with his lol.. and several apps .. Heirloom tomato salad .. and sample app.. and we were supposed to share the dessert by we got talking to a lovely couple who have been visiting the island for 20+ years and our son ate the apple cobbler all up guess we will need to go back.

One night we walked down the beach and decided to eat at Ruinas del Mar... at the Hyatt. My son loved taking photo's with the exotic birds before dinner.
Salmon on a cedar flake.. awesome and the little one had filet. we ordered two desserts and they were less than average . I like the ambiance there and it got very busy. They used to have black swans but the filters were being repaired cleaned. so no swans..

Chalet Suisse Still good , love the building and the food was great and so was the service... skipped dessert do to too many apps and went to Gelatissimo ( and no it wasn't our first visit LOL) I love that they have fresh fruit to order also. Now, here's a tip .. they have dragon fruit there to purchase .. I bought one at Super foods and am embarrassed to say paid $12 for one but it was delicious .. here they are smaller but just $3 Get yourself some!

Ok here is my favorite meal.....

Sunset at Zeerovers! We ordered so much fish and shrimp and everything on the darn menu... it was AWESOME.. and the most beautiful sunset of the whole trip. Met a group staying in a home near Palm Beach and had a great time. My son loved watching the fishermen coming in with their catch's of the day.. We ate until we could not move and nothing of all our dinners compared to the way we felt there. Picked up some bottles of MJ's hot sauce and some lottery tickets.. NO unfortunately we didn't win the money... But we did win by picking this trip , being with the wonderful people both visiting and living on the island. I can't wait to go back! like soon!

    thank you demi

welcome to the aruba.com community forum

ahh the good old days of not so long ago of the "aruba grand"

we have friends that have timeshare there during weeks 32,33 and 34 and they are very disappointed at what they felle to be, the mediocre housekeeping, poor maintenance and the indifference that the riu mgmt shows to the timeshare owners there. however, their 1st floor beachside unit is lovely!!!

but, as they say they would rather put up with the mediocre than to go back to spending 3 weeks on cape cod where they spend tons of money, where they are not guaranteed great weather.
