Wink My First Trip Report to Aruba from Columbus, Ohio

Our first trip to Aruba was a great success. We spent one day at the Holiday Inn and the next seven at the Playa Linda. Our experience was truly amazing. We could not have asked for anything better. We loved the Playa Linda and we are returning next year. With the help from all of you on this forum our vacation was perfect. We did rent a car and hubby did not care for the driving in Aruba. We realized we really did not need one as everything is close to the resort. All the restaurants we choose were great and we found all the people we encountered extremely friendly and courteous. I took too many clothes as I think many do on their first trip. I will take less next year and add some food to the mix. We sailed on the Black Pearl and it was incredible. This was my first time to snorkel and they did have some prescription goggles which were so nice. I have never snorkeled before because of poor eyesight. The sandwiches were awesome as mentioned in previous posts. Albert and Joann were so hospitable. The small catamaran made it much more personal. The weather was perfect as I guess it always is. I loved the white sandy beaches, beautiful calm, blue water. I spend a lot of time in the water. My husband was more relaxed on this vacation than many of our previous ones. He was content to sit under the "chickee" and read. We met some very nice people at the Playa Linda and the staff could not have been better. Our one night at the Holiday Inn was nice. It is not as new but the rooms are clean and well kept and the grounds I felt were beautiful and well kept. I have purchased my trip insurance for next year so I would be eligible for trip cancellation which I did not know previously that you had to purchase with a short period of time of your initial deposit. We ate at Madame Janette's, Salt and Pepper, Scala, Iquana Cantina, Fishes and More and Tomato Charlie's pizza. Also Scott's Brats and Carlito's. All food was wonderful. Still have a lot more to try.
Thank you again for all your helpful advise and I look forward to following the forum this year. What a nice group of people with so much knowledge.
I hope to find cheaper air fare this year now that I know I can wait a little. Thanks again. We did eat at the Pelican's Nest also and I did get a shock at the prices at the grocery, but we were on vacation so who cares.

sue...glad to hear it was terrific.
many folks love the holiday inn and also some like to ciriticize the holiday inn.....BUT, the HI is clean, comfortable, on the beach, nice pools, nice staff....it may not be the spot for those that want high end, but for many it is perfect!!!!

playa linda is terrific too and right there in the midst of the hustle and bustle of palm beach doings!

i look forward to hearing of your next aruba adventure plans.

thank you for taking the time to share your trip with us.

Thank you for all your assistance in planning this wonderful trip. We would like to go many a few more days next year. Do you have any suggestions for maybe three days prior to stay at Playa Linda which would be close to the Playa Linda? We do not need anything fancy just clean.

Great report! We are looking forward to our first stay at Playa Linda this year. It really is a great location for walking to places. How was the food and service Iguana Catina? Our first few trips it was a bit of a first night tradition, but we haven't been the last couple times. It seems to get mixed reviews.
Not sure when, but we will be back
