    My trip 5/15 to 5/22

Landed yesterday around 1:30pm. Customs and baggage was a breeze. Always use the last line next to residents in customs. It's usually a short line. I was at la cabana by 2:30 but room wasn't ready until 3:45 so I went to super foods. Dinner was at pizza bob. Had a balashi draft while they made my Mexican pizza. Finished the draft n the pizza was ready but they dropped it in the kitchen when they were boxing it. The bartender said they started happy hour earlier in the kitchen. So the bartender made me a drink he came up with called mosquito. He put all kinds of booze and top off with juice. It was like a long island ice tea. I had 2 and then took my pizza and wings to the room and had a few chill beer. That was it for day 1 as I was tired and just wanted to relax.

Day 2. This morning I woke up at 6:00am, tired and with a hangover. Must of gotten the hangover from those mosquito drinks at pizza Bob. The wings at pizza Bob were over cooked and they are sooo tiny and not worth the price. They are nothing like the wings u get at a bar which is a nice size.

I hit the beach today at 10:30am. It was very windy. Hit the water at 11:30am and it was calm but by 12:30pm the water was choppy. Took a walk around la cabana pool and I lucked out finding Paul n Andrea. They were about to leave so perfect timing. Chatted a bit with andrea and then went back to the beach to check on miss daisy. Ate lunch in the room at 2:00pm and then I had a 3 hour nap from 2:30 to 5:30. Ahhh lazy days! I really needed the nap because this evening I felt so energized and relaxed.

Dinner tonight was at Gostoso. The chef/owner, the waiters were very polite and worked as a team giving us personal attention. We started off with a pitcher of white sangria which was refreshing. An appetiser of shrimp sushi made with plantains which was very original and tasty.. The chef who is Portuguese explained that a Japanese chef taught him how to roll sushi and then he gave it a Latin flair with the plantain. Ms Daisy had the goat stew with rice which she loved. I tasted a little and it tasted like lamb. I had the land and sea dish which was steak in mushroom sauce, 2 shrimps, and pan fried grouper with rice, veggies and plantains. It was delicious! No dessert as we were too full.

We headed b back to la cabana and hung out at the casino for 2 hours. My mom spent 1 hour and 20 minutes playing the same slot machine with 20 dollars. She put another 10 for 40 minutes and we left winning 10 dollars but we had 6 free drinks so it was good entertainment.

So that was my day. In the room by 11pm and will go to bed by midnight. Looking forward to another great day tomorrow.

Day 3. I usually leave the curtains open so when the sun comes up, it wakes me up. That's my natural alarm clock. I had the curtains closed so I woke up at 8:00am. So far I've been very lazy on this trip and have not gone out for my morning walks. I have been swimming a lot at the beach though. I usually swim to the rope and I swim from one buoy to the next. Took me 100 strokes each arm and I did it a few times.

I hit the beach at 11:00am and was lucky to get one of the few remaining palapas. I hit the water at 11:45 and did not come out until 1:45pm. It was hotter today and I thank the strong winds which made it feel cooler but I got a little sun burn around my shoulders. So much for water proof sun block. I had lunch in the room and took a 2 hour nap. I love those naps!

Dinner tonight was at Ricardo's. He was a nice host and very polite and so were the staff. I had the coconut scallops and ms daisy the coconut shrimp. Very tasty except they poured a sauce over
them which made the breading fall apart. Now I feel like going to MJ. They have this dish called coco Rasta shrimp and the breading doesn't fall apart. I was a bit turned off by the bill adding a 15 percent tip with a caption stating this is a service charge shared by all so please tip your waiter. I left half of the 15 percent so I guess it worked out to 22 percent.

When I got to the lobby of Aruba Beach Club, there was no one at the front desk and I needed a cab. So I walked over to casa del Mar and no one there either. I ended up walking to Alhambra to get a cab. I didn't mind but it's a walk for my 90 year old mom from the pool where ricardo's is at, to the lobby and Alahambra. Now I'm not sure I will go to matthews my last dinner night.

We went back to la cabana, hung out at the casino for 2 hours and made our donation. Now back in the room looking forward to tomorrow. Maybe I will get that walk in.

    Until tomorrow.
