Oh I wanted to mention the bill at Ricardo's also included a health tax? What is that? So it was 15 percent service charge, tax and something called health tax tax.

    ahhhh yes.
    it is the Health Tax.
    it began in Dec 2014
and the proceeds are used to bolster the health care system in Aruba.

Enjoy! Sounds so relaxing so far! Minus the walk to look for a cab of course.

Ace, we had a similar experience getting a taxi after breakfast at Matthews once. I've decided next time, just to ask the restaurant to help Before we leave when we are in that area.

Looking forward to sharing your trip with you! Enjoy!
Not sure when, but we will be back

When we dine out we always ask the wait staff to call us a taxi when they bring us the bill. We''ve never had an issue. I've always found the restaurant staff to be accommodating.

Nice vacation so far.... don't like that you were 'beat up' for an additional tip!

Day 4. Finally got up for a 30 minute walk. I also swam a lot at the beach today. It was very windy and felt cold at times with heat in the back ground. I don't know how to describe It.

I had dinner reservations at Daniels but I was not in the mood for steak and I needed a break from taking cabs every day. Basically I did not want to leave the resort. So we ate at the islanders grill at la cabana and ms daisy said it was the best meal the whole trip so far. Yea right! She had this chicken parm they make with gouda cheese which I've had in the past and actually very good. I had the ribs which were also good. Not smokey Joe or Barneys good but I enjoyed them. Did not spend much time at the casino today so called it a night early. Bye the way Daniel's was rescheduled for my last night Thursday.

So far I'm very relaxed and I'm thinking of coming back for thanksgiving for 5 nights. I found a great deal airfare and hotel staying at MVC Eagle Beach.

Thanksgiving is our favorite time of year in Aruba. Love that many restaurants do a turkey menu for the holiday. It's funny how we all think of our next trip before we finish the one we're on!!

Just wanted to let you know that we went to Matthews on May 2nd and when our dinner was set before us and the waiter left we were bombarded by flies- ruined our meal. We were there at dusk so maybe that contributed to it and eventually another waiter came over with a mosquito candle which helped get rid of most of the flies but not all of them. Our meal was ruined by the flies- do not think I could get my germaphobe husband to ever go back. On top of that my piņa colada shrimp that cost 30 dollars had only 5 medium size shrimp and they were not big.our waiter must have been brand new and did not understand English very well so getting the bill took a good 20 minutes. Overall very disappointing this year and last year it was our favorite.also have to say that the flies were everywhere inside the restaurant.

We have had issues with flies in the past at Matthews. It's annoying! This trip it was fine. Also, I think you're more apt to have a problem if you sit along the outer rim of the dining room so we ask for a table more towards the middle. We both really enjoy the food and staff at Matthews.
