The week ended much too quickly and I can't believe were home almost a week already. Here's the wrap up of our final 3 days.
Monday June 2: weather was terrific again as it was for most of the week so lots of beach and pool time. The Surf Club is now loaded with kids again and definitely more crowded than when we first arrived. Still got lots of time at the Lazy River and did some driving around the island. First time I noticed Segway tours of the island and we couldn't decide if it looked like fun or was just weird.
Dinner was at Papamiento's where we hadn't eaten in years. The restaurant is so pretty and we had a table around the pool. The food was fine but not great. Service started out good but tapered off and it was a long dinner. All in all, a good but not great meal.

Tuesday June 3: more beach, pool, happy hour, using my new camera for some great sunsets, and the best dinner of the week at 2 Fools and a Bull. I realize that this restaurant, along with Carte Blanche, is not for everyone. It was our 2nd time there and it is truly a great dining experience. The were 12 people in the food studio that night and the owners Paul and Fred do a great job making everyone comfortable. They prepare a 5 course dinner with wine pairings (optional) and it was truly a gourmet experience. It's a 3 hour dinner party and we met 2 really nice couples who were staying at Casa del Mar.

Wednesday June 4: this was our final day before heading back to Southern Cal so we decided to maximize our beach time. We had a nice breakfast at Linda's Pancakes to start out and then just veggies out under the palapa all day. Dinner was casual at Casa Tua as we always enjoy their pizza. We had an early cab ride back to the airport to catch the morning flight to Miami with a connection to LA. The airport was fine although we didn't realize that US Customs doesn't open until 7 am (the flight was at 8:45). Flights were fine, although it was a long day flying back. We agreed that we need to stay 2 weeks next time to make the flights worthwhile, but we really enjoyed being back in Aruba after missing it last year. Aruba seems to be thriving again now that the recession is over with new construction, road improvements, etc. We did enjoy being there in the a Spring as opposed to our usual Summer visit as the crowds seemed smaller and the weather a bit more comfortable especially in the evenings.

Already thinking in grog our next trip back!

thank you so much for sharing.

yes indeed, when one travels that far ....2 weeks is necessary. heck, it is a 4000 + mile trip, i would imagine that it takes a couple of days once you arrive to catch your breath!

Thanks for the report, sounds like you had a great time. We went the first couple of times for a week each time, but after the first time we stayed for 2 weeks, we decided that we will never go for less time.
