Great trip report Corona! Our first trip to Aruba, 11 years ago, was also during Presidents week. We stayed at the Ocean Club and because of all the screaming kids, we too, swore off Presidents week. The kids were certainly not bad or overly disruptive, but kids none the less. We are empty nesters and our tolerances are not what they used to be.

Great trip report, Corona. I do live in NJ and although I am neither Italian or a housewife, I see these women and their familieis at the mall all of the time . Since our kids are grown up and we are not restricted by the schools calendar anymore and we do not have grankchildren yet, we try to avoid the school vacation weeks when vacationing. We did go to the Marriott in Puerto Rico a few years ago during Spring break and it was pretty similar to your Hyatt experience and we vowed "never again".

By the way, it was nice and quiet in NJ during President's week as all of the loud families apparently went to Florida or the Caribbean.

Enjoyed the trip report. I agree with your experiences with presidents week at the Hyatt. We were at the casino and came out around 11pm. The lobby was mobbed with children & teens. Running up and down hallways and playing tag on the stairs? I thought for sure one kid was going to knock agentleman down the stairs. Not a parent in sight.

Overall off topic, but I LOVE watching the housewives and got my husband hooked on all of them too! SO over the top funny! Oh I would DIE if I saw the Gorga's in Aruba! I'd be looking for another hotel!

Thank you. That was the real kick in the patootie. My husband and I are also empty nesters and could have picked almost any week for our trip. ...live and learn.

Thanks, jeffnev. I'm happy we were able to help keep the kids off the streets and out of the malls your way over PW!

(If you see any table flipping behavior by the HW's do tell..)

I'm glad you enjoyed the report, crosby. Thanks. I'm glad others noted the behavior too and are commenting on it. I didn't want to come across as an old fuddy duddy (probably saying fuddy duddy makes me one though .)

You would have cracked up at the four little girls I first mentioned. I didn't even make the connection to RHoNJ, it was my husband who *claims* not to watch the show when I have it on. The youngest one even sported an animal print bikini most days to complete the picture. They were so cute, but, gosh, could they bicker long and hard over nothing. They had their strut down to a science too. Little teen boys don't stand a chance..lol

Corona, I totally agree with you about the craziness at the Hyatt during President's week. The running around, hanging out in the lobby all dressed to the nines with no where to go unless it's Senor Frogs to drink their little hearts out. We don't stay at the Hyatt but spend a lot of time there visiting friends who work at the bars and casino (of course we make our donations to the general casino funds along the way). I find it kind of sad to see the really young kids (7-10) hanging outside the casino while their parents are inside playing.

I really like your trip report and hope to write one soon. My sisters and I were down from 2/9 to 2/23. I wish I didn't have to leave. ;-)

ArubaJAK...The kids hanging out in the lobby were something else. You're not kidding about them being dressed to the nines and then some, and very young for it too. I hope others who read this thread and are flexible with their travel dates &/or hotel options take note.

You had a nice long vacation in Aruba...I have to say, I'm jealous...lol We went the 14th and returned the 21st - boo hoo!! It's never long enough though, is it?

I'm looking forward to reading your travel report.
