Found th food truck. It was where I suspected - white trailer parked across street from chalet Suisse. We shared a chicken and steak meal. Very good and reasonable @ $7 each, there was plenty of food for the 4 of us. Loved the peanut sauce.

Spent the the whole day on the beach. It was the first day of our trip that was cloudy and hazy. It actually felt great. It's early yet but looking like it could be another cloudy one. I just watched my friends' ship head into the port. They will be here soon for our last day.

Went to palm beach last night for happy hour at beach bar, said goodbye to our friends there :-(. Then dinner at Bingo to get my coconut shrimp fix, it's an app but I ordered it as my meal along w small bingo salad. So good! Hubs had mixed grill, friends had garlic shrimp w pasta and other had salmon. All very happy with our choices. 6 drinks between us, bill totaled $150 before tip.

Tonight will be dinner at Terrazza Italiana. Made reservations for 630 so we could enjoy our last sunset. I hope it won't be too hot up there at that time.

Spent the day on the beach yesterday. We had 3 friends join us for the morning while here on a cruise stop. I was prepared to drive them around and show them a bit of the island but they have been partying a lot on the ship so were happy to just relax on the beach. Ordered lunch from Islander Grill which everyone enjoyed. They took a cab back to port around 2. There were 2 ships in port yesterday and the island was hopping. Lots of traffic and the beach was very active. I'm glad I did not have to drive them back into downtown. We stayed on the beach until 5. It was cloudy all day and very strong gusts of wind. As sure it was going to rain in the morning but it never did. We did experience the foul smell from the sewage treatment plant yesterday, which I've seen mentioned before. It was intermittent throughout the day, and was quite unpleasant. I'm glad that wasnt present all week.

Our last dinner was at Terrazza Italiana. We arrived at 6:30 just in time for a beautiful sunset. The drink special was sangria 2 for $10 and it was fantastic, loaded with fresh fruit. We could tell from the get go that service was going to be a problem and we were willing to be patient and just enjoy our last dinner on the island. There was only one waitress and maybe 7-8 tables seated. The owner was helping her out too, as well as preparing the food. I won't ramble here about all the service issues but by 8:45 when we finally got our check our patience was definitely tried. But onto the good - the food was fabulous. Our best meal of the trip. We shared a small antipasti (it was not small at all, plenty for the 4 of us), I had linguini in a creamy Parmesan sauce w peas and pancetta, hubs had chicken pizzaella, friends had shrimp w risotto and pasta Alfredo w Italian sausage. The meals came with soup or house salad. We all had leftovers which we didn't take due to leaving today. Overall it was a great meal and we will return.

Now im off to the pool for one more hour of sun then pack and stop at west deck for lunch before we depart. We want to get to airport by 1 for our 330 flight. I'll check in from airport if time.

I have really enjoyed your trip report. It sounds like you have had a great time. How nice that you were able to share your vacation with your friends from the ship. We visited La Terraza back in Feb. We also thought that the food was great, and loved the views. However, we agree that the service was painfully slow. Since we were one of the first to arrive, it started out great, but really went downhill from there. I'm not sure that we will eat there again. Have a safe trip home, and thanks for taking the time to share.

thank you for sharing your story.
by now, it seems to me that "terrazza italiana" would have the whole service thing nailed down.
the food can be as delicious as the "day is long:............but if the service continues to be slow and a topic of negative conversations, then this restaurant will fail.

paul and i expect to dine there during our stay in november.

    safe and easy travels

Thanks all for "traveling" with me. Hubs and friends tire of my constant Aruba chatter so it's nice to come here and engage with you all. Our lunch at west deck was a perfect ending to our trip. Shared a bunch of apps, including our favorite balashi grouper fingers and indulged in one last margarita before heading to airport at 12:30. Dropped car, rep had our bags loaded into the shuttle when we finished paperwork. Literally took 2 minutes. Great service again with Optima! Curb to gate took 1 hour total, with the longest lines being US Customs and security. We had pre check but they don't use it, so that was useless. The U S security line was a slow mess in May also. I don't know if they will do anything about that in their planned renovations, but they should.

We shopped around a bit, then found a table at the Dutch bar and ordered a couple beers each while we waited for plane to arrive. The airport seemed packed. Flight departed approx 15 mins late but we made it up in the air and arrived into Atlanta about 5 mins early. Nice smooth flight, until the end. We had a very hard landing. Startled the heck out of everyone on board. I don't know what happened but thankfully no one was jostled around enough to be injured. Loud and startling more than anything. By the time we got to B terminal, we only had a few minutes to eat so just grabbed premade sandwiches to take on flight. They were terrible! Yuk! They were wasted and we lived off cookies and peanuts. Lol. Arrived in Rochester 15 minutes early to 60 degrees. Boo!

Today I will mope around wishing I was on my lounge on the beach, looking forward to the next visitor to write a report so I can follow along.
