For wifi I use the free wifi that renaissance ocean suites provide. it is available on the private island and other area around the renaissance.

cell - my iphone is in airplane mode and the cell i use is my prepaid aruba digicel phone. I loaded 10 guilders onto it but the calls i make are skype using my computer or ipad

Activities planned.... just snorkeling and visiting friends.
(unless 6 mo dental visit and casino count as activities QUOTE=Trip-planner;236279]Andrea what did you end up doing for wi-Fi and cell service? Do you have any activities planned for your stay?[/QUOTE]

the entire article about the new "business hotel"
the hotel is not being built as a resort, but as a business hotel downtown O'Staad.
there has been talk of it on the local news, but since i cannot understand Papiamento, i was unable to hear any of the commentaries.
the few arubans i spoke with tell me it is a good plan!

    Day 3 Sunday

Somebody must be giving something away for FREE at Renaissance Island because the place was PACKED both yesterday and especially today.
Weather today, was glorious again and there was one grey cloud that passed by at about 9am and then beat it.

We were at Ren Island from about 8 til 2 and were in the water most of the time.

After showers and a snack we took a ride up to the divi ai and then back here for dinner in of left overs, and a walk around the marketplace, spending some time listening to music.

Paul and i are considering an overnight trip to bonaire either later this week or early next week for 36 hrs to do some snorkeling. Tomorrow i will do a little research on pricing to see if it is the budget.

Tomorrow is a morning trip to LaDelizia bakery in Noord, Alto Vista for prayers, Scott's Brats for breakfast, the pool here at the Ren and then the dentist (oh joy )

    Hi Andrea,
Thanks for making a post about your latest visit to Aruba, posts like yours and fellow community members helps to keep those of us that are far from the Happy Island feel like we are there and also helps to cure our Aruba withdrawl and longing to be back there. Anyhow, there is a article in The Morning News and The Aruba Herald on plans to construct/develp a high end business hotel on main street. Here are the links:

What has been the general consesnus about this? I remember on our way back from the Carubbean Festival during my last visit our driver telling us all about the plans to build some five star hotels and a gold course out in San Nicolas,

Enjoy your trip, soak up all that gorgeous sunny weather, and have lots and lots of fun.
    Val

Living through your reports since we won't be back on the island next month as planned. I completely agree with your thoughts on the view from the room, the weather seems perfect so who wants to be in the room anyway?
How has the snorkelling been - anything that stands out?
Not sure when, but we will be back

    Day 4 Monday

This will be brief i am exhausted.

Ran a few errands in the morning and enjoyed a nice breakfast sandwich at Scott's Brats. A wonderful little place, run by 2 exceptional people (forum members LUVSUN) Located on Palm Beach at Playa Linda YUM.

    Weather again, glorious.

Hung out poolside at the Ren for most of the day and enjoyed the company of Angela Munzenhofer (Bella Aruba Photography).
We'll meet up with her again tomorrow evening for dinner at her family's restaurant BUCCANEER that has extraordinary poached grouper, and awesome barracuda!

Dental visit this afternoon Follow up visit on Wednesday

    Dinner at Lindas YUM

Froze our bums off at marriott casino, and left as we were just too cold!

    that is about it
    goodnight

Always enjoy your reports. Don't always write anything but always read.

Why did you switch from staying at La Cabana to Renaissance? Just curious....
happiness is going to Aruba with your adult kids because they still want to come with their parents
