hahaha lewis black. i bet he was paid a fortune for those blurbs. FUNNY stuff.
aug 12 wednesday
we stumbled out of bed at 6:03 am, as the maintenance man was banging on the door asking us about our oven.........wth??? go away, you have the wrong room!
mosied along over to the ABC pool, which apparently have reciprocity rights with CDM, dropped our crapola at a chickie poolside and vegetated for the day.
every so often we'd hotfoot it across the pavers onto the sand and into the ocean for the dip. water a tiny bit calmer today and some of our "dips" lasted an hour. finally by 3 pm, we decided that we were sufficiently pruned and tanned, made our way back to our CDM timeshare unit, showered and snoozed til 5:30. when i say snoozed, i mean fall asleep dead to the world, nightgown and everything!!!
dinner was at wacky wahoo.
see culinary section.
small donation made at marriott casino.
we have enough points on our marriott card to eat at one of marriott restaurants next week.
or not ;-)
perfect weather again and both of us feel back to normal!
our day was spent at the beach in and out of the ocean and in and out of the shade of the palapa.
enjoying my ipod and audiobooks. i get to listen and get to see the scenery!
dinner last night was at COOKS downtown and i highly recommend it. we had a lovely dinner and it is a relaxed casual atmosphere. the owner, ommi henriquez greeted us and we chatted a bit, the chat became a full huge conversation to the point that he and his wife and young daughter joined us and i felt like we were at a family dinner. conversation was lively and fun. now, paul and i did not now this man or his family, but he treated us as family and made us comfortable and it was a blast!!
while there, a young hunky gorgeous young man came in to say hello to some of the wait staff. as it turns out, he is the 4 time "mixed martial arts" champion of aruba.
he will be competing in south america in september!
on the way home from Cooks we considered a stop at the alhambra casino but because it friday the 13th we skipped it.
today we check out of casa del mar and move into a 1 bedroom at aruba beach club.
We moved out of Casa Del Mar today (I have LOTS to say about casa del mar at a later date) and into Aruba Beach Club.
Unit 301 a 1 bedroom unit, renovated, bright and cheery.
Bedroom has 2 queen beds, living room has a pullout sofa bed.
Aruba Beach Club was very helpful in getting us in our unit EARLY as the prior guests left a day early!
We got in, got settled, spent a few hours in the ocean rolling around and getting knocked about with the huge waves.
We watched the regatta from in the water.........saw the TRANQUILO go thru the course and many other large sail boats.
The day was somewhat overcast and very windy. It felt great.
Dinner was at Lindas.
Casino donation at Marriott.
btw, parking at abc and cdm is frustrating.
tomorrow..........we were invited to a private island for a bbq/boating/beaching. we'd love to go, but boats and i are enemies. also too no bathrooms on this private island called "the reef".
i am not as adventuresome as i once was.
will make the decision tomorrow ;-)
This doesn't sound good Andrea and leaves me feeling uneasy as that's where we are staying for the whole 2 weeks. It's only 1 month 4 days til we go, wow time flies and I'm getting excited but nervous too.
I can't wait to read what you have to say so I canbe prepared. I know one thing, CDM is not very good at answering emails, it takes about a week for a response. When I do get a response, it's usually incomplete and doesn't answer all my questions.
For example, I have asked them 3 times what kind of cribs they provide ie pack n play or actual crib and what type of strollers, full size or umbrella and the make. I also asked how large the sun canopy is. I wanted to be able to make a decision on what I was bringing and what I need to reserve from the resort but despite 3 emails sent, no answer to these questions in 3 weeks.
i just got back from the front desk at cdm.
they gave me no information on strollers but said they had regular cribs.
i advise you to call them and ask for the front desk manager.
my situation with cdm cleanliness of our unit, cleanliness or lack thereof of the pool out by the ambassador (1 bdrms) units, rude front desk staff, cheapness of not providing soap, dish detergent, coffee filters, hair dryers, can openers, toasters. we eventuaally did get a can opener and a toaster but we had to beg. and in this day and age providing no hand or bathsoap or shampoo in the bathroom is just plain cheap and they wanted to rent me a hairdryer........cheap cheap cheap.
the housekeeping supervisor, ms witch, chewed out our housekeeper in front of us which was inappropriate.
i would never stay in the ambassador units again, but friends of ours in the presidential (2bdrms) love it and have no issues.
you will not have these issues in the presidential suites.
cdm treats interval exchange folks in the ambassador suites like dirt. IMO.
