Our 3/27/10 - 4/10/2010 Trip Report

Just got back from our annual 2 week trip to Aruba. Of course it goes without saying that we had a great time and are bummed to be back. This year hubby and I travelled with our 22 month old daughter as well as my Mom (whose age I dare not disclose). The baby had a ball in the pool and the ocean, playing in the sand and just being out in the sun in general. At least twice a day, she would throw her arms up in the air and scream out "Aruba" which comes out more like "Ayuba" but we know what she means
We arrived at around 4:30pm on Saturday, March 27th - got our rental car and luggage with no problems (flight was good too except for a 20 minute delay on the runway waiting for a gate to open up at the ARuba airport). No line at check-in at that time of night at Divi Links so we got right into our timeshare rooms, hurriedly unpacked and off to the supermarket. Just relaxed that night and picked up Pizza Bob's (Mom and I got salads and hubby got ribs and fries which he shared with our daughter). The weather our first week was top notch - Partly cloudy with a nice steady breeze. Dinners our first week included several trips to Pizza Bob's and Mulligans and one trip to Marandi. It had been our first trip to Marandi and we loved the food and the ambience. I as a little bummed though because I had not been feeling well earlier in the day and decided I didn't want to cancel dinner so we went and had a good time but several hours later, my delicious dinner ended up in the toilet bowl and I was not feeling completely better for about 3 days. I hesitate to blame Mirandi's for food poisoning as I had been somewhat lightheaded/nauseaus and very tired earlier in the day. Will give it another try next year.
We ate dinner at Gianni's on Easter Sunday. Food is always top notch. Service tends to be good in the beginning of the meal and then tends to slack off toward the end, but we are on vacation and don't seem to mind unless the baby starts to get restless. Dinners for the rest of the week included El Gaucho, Driftwood, Sunset Grille and Chalet Suisse (all delicious). This is the first time in 8 consecutive trips that we did not go to Madame Janette's and I'm still miffed about it (oh well, will just have to go twice next year).
We also tried Wok Away one afternoon when the weather was overcast and a bit rainy. We knew it was a bit of a drive but we finally found it and thought it was worth it. Baby loved the noodles and baby corn in my dish. Didn't do too many events this trip. We mainly wanted to relax by the pool most of the trip and we did just that. We made a couple of shopping trips to town and mom and I did a 2 hour mani/pedi at the spa at the Divi (very nice and relaxing). DH and I went up to the Radisson Casino about every other night (Mom watched the baby) and did okay. One night hubby hit four-of-a kind at Four card poker which gave him a very nice payout and pretty much evened out our losses for the week!!! Met some nice people at the casino and had alot of fun.
My brother-in-law and sister-in-law arrived the day before we left with their two kids (almost 3 and 6 months) and we spent our last day with them which was a nice way to end our trip. They will be coming home this Thursday evening and I'm sure we'll all be ready to discuss next year's trip. I'm already suffering from Aruba withdrawal as is my almost 2 year old who still yells out an occassional "Ayuba" from time to time. Until next year.....

Such a nice report! Glad you had a good time. Your daughter is a doll baby. Looks like she is enjoying that water. She's just 'chillin'
Thanks for your report!
