    Our Aruba Trip 6/2-6/9

What can I say about our first trip to Aruba? Simply the best!!! I have never been so relaxed! The Marriott Surf Club was beautiful and all my worries about it went out the door as soon as we arrived. Check in was a breeze and we were in our room by 2:30. We were in the compass tower and faced the ocean club, but we had a beautiful view of the ocean. Spent every morning at the beach. Didn't even bother trying to get a palapa since I spent most of the time in the beautiful water. Was not hard getting a beach chair at all. Since we are not big breakfast eaters, I walked every day to the dunkin donuts for iced coffee and donuts. It was a beautiful peaceful walk every morning. One day we tried Dushi bagels, but was not impressed. Being from NY, we are spoiled with good bagels, lol. Spent most of our afternoons at Moomba beach for lunch and beers. Food was tasty and reasonable and they played good music all day long.
Rented ATV's through Georges and toured the whole island on our own. While it was fun in the beginning, we got hot and lost halfway through the trip. We eventually found out way, with the help of the friendly locals. All in all we were glad we did it and got to see the whole island.
We ate at Madame Janettes which was wonderful. I got the almond cursted grouper while my hubby got the surf and turf. Place was packed. No mosquitoes as other had mentioned but noticed many people had bug spray on there tables, lol. We also ate at Pelican's nest and iguana joes, which were both very good as well.
We did not snorkle my husband is terrified of sharks, lol and refused to go into the water. One day , laying in the ocean, fish stared to bite our legs, lol. Hubby never went in the water again.

Don't know when we will be returning since our next trip will be to Europe. Hopefully soon! Next time I would like to try wind surfing since it looked so fun. All in all it was a very relaxing trip. Highly recommend Aruba. The best place in caribbean!

Thanks for the trip report. Sorry DH din't like the water, mine is looking forward to an experience we had in the Bahamas once, laying on his stomach and having the little fishes swim between his fingers.

It's been a week since we've been back, and the hubby has already nixed the Europe trip and wants to back to Aruba before next year! Hopefully we can use my uncles timeshare again. If not, we may be looking into purchasing our own!

Funny side note here..when we purchased our Marriott Ocean club in Aruba back in 2001, we were excited that we could pay to be a part of Interval International and "trade" our timeshare for other exciting place. Well..yeah...that worked out for a couple years. We traded for Hilton Head once, Palm Desert once and Hawaii once...and guess what...we dropped Interval because we have decided that each year we will come back to Aruba and maybe trade for points once every 3 years or so. We love Aruba that much!

Looks like Aruba reeled in another lucky couple! Funny how that works, you gotta love it

I love the beach (who doesn't?), anywhere that I can snorkel, The Donkey Sanctuary (much to the dismay of my daughter), the lighthouse.

Our story is similar to bradrobster's. We own at the Surf Club. I called the Marriott Vacation Club office some time ago and was chastised (with love, lol) by the customer service rep, because we have never traded Aruba for anywhere else. We have no plans to trade it, ever.
