Monday continued - Went to meet good friends for dinner at Ricardo's. One of our friends told Bob that it was next to mathew's. Well, it is next to mathew's but Bob decided to park at the end of the road where alhambra's is so, I felt like we were going over the river and through the woods to grandma's house, lol! In the sand, out of the sand, past pools, past condo's, through mathew's and finally there! I wasn't too happy with him when we got there but that quickly passed after everyone thought it was hilarious, I began to find a little humor too. It was all you can eat rib night but none of us got ribs for some reason. They looked delicious but could be very messy. The ladies all got the chicken parm which was served with linguini and smothered in sauce and cheese. Very tasty. Bob got the lamb chops but hasn't had them since he was a kid so he didn't have anything to compare them to but said there were good. Everyone seemed satisfied with their meal. Went to alhambra's and we made a small donation. Hope my luck isn't running out.

Tuesday - another beautiful day in Aruba. Blue skies, white sand, nice breeze and clear wonderful, refreshing water. Awwww, life is good! Stayed in for dinner, then made a small donation to the glitz.

Wednesday - another beach day then dinner with friends at Las Ramblas. Have never been but heard good things so I will update later.

Reading your report with interest. We will be there for the first time soon. I'm surprised at all the German food restaurants. My husband will love that. We are German and make all the things you mentioned: schnitzel, roulladen, red cabbage, apple strudel, etc. I'm interested in how authentic it is. The menu from Bavaria does look very authentic. We just play slots in Vegas and will try Alhambra. Sounds like that was the one you went to most. Hope the weather is good when we come next week.

Running a little behind on my report but I will give a quick overview. We had a reservation for 12 of us at Las Ramblas and everything was set and the place was full since they are only open Wednesday - Saturday. Well, having said that, the service was extremely slow and they even got Orlando out of the pata pata to serve drinks plus it was so dark, we had to ask for lanterns to see the menu. I never had a ribeye in Aruba so I ordered it and Bob got the surf and turf. My rib eye was a nice size, seasoned beautifully and served with very few vegetables and a little dab of sweet potato hash browns. Bob had a very small piece of steak, a few scallops and a couple of shrimp along with the vegetables and potato's. Some of the others ordered the lamb chops and said they were delicious. Bottom line, everyone enjoyed the food but felt that the portions were very small for the price (especially the guys) and the service was just to slow. It took 2 1/2 hours before we got out of there. I would probably try it one more time on another visit.

The next day, 9 of us went to the Chefs Table. Most everyone got a fish dish of some sort and agree that the food was exceptional. I know that when in Aruba, relax, enjoy and nothing moves fast but 3 hours before we walked out of there! The place was not busy, several waitress's so we just can't figure out why it took so long. It really left everyone annoyed by the time we left. Like I said, the food was exceptional but if you go, plan on a long night.

All of our days are spent on the beach with our Aruba friends in which some are practical jokers. One of the days we came down and there was a Here Lies Bob towel hanging from our palapa. A few days later, we went in the water and now we know a look out came in with us. The rest of them all kicked it into gear and moved all of our stuff out of the palapa and had a stranger (who volunteered) sitting in a chair reading a book under our palapa when we got out of the water! Of course someone videoed us getting out and the look on our faces. That was a good one if I must say so myself!

Today is Saturday and we are taking a day off of the beach and heading to the high rise area. I want to see the Ritz and have to get my Scott's Brat's fix.

that is too bad that your las ramblas dinner was long and slow.
my friends sena and louann, love the place and i just asked them, byt text, about the portions....
both replied the portions are ok for them but their husbands think too small too.

i come to expect to bring a "doggie bag" out of most restaurants.

again, thanks for sharing and i am interested to read your comments on the ritz!

Saturday continued- went down to see the Ritz and it is just beautiful. Took a stroll through the hotel and stopped off to see the beautiful view from the bar area in the lobby. Gorgeous blue water and white sand. I was a little surprised at the blue striped umbrella's they had on the beach. Doesn't look like it gives much shade and you would have thought they would have something that doesn't look so cheap. Of course we had to check out the casino. Was impressed with the size and we both came out winners so no complaints here. Made our way to the Holiday Inn where we parked and looked up Wilfredo, one of our favorite bartenders from LaCabana that is now at the holiday inn. Found him at the bar working and was so glad to see him and he us. Sat and talked awhile, had a drink and started making our way to Scott's Brauts. We lost track of time and got there at 4 minutes after 3 and they were closing but Leslie was kind enough to offer us her 2 last Brauts (thank goodness). Bob had the jalapeņo, peanut butter and cream cheese and I had sauerkraut and onion. Delicious! Didn't get to talk with Scott and Leslie because they were anxious to leave after a long day but talked with the young lady that stays and does clean up for them. I didn't get to say hi for you Walt but we did see your license plate. Ended up going back to Bavaria later that evening and it was delicious as always. Rolled steak, potato pancakes and noodles, how can you go wrong.

Sunday- another beach day that was absolutely beautiful. White sand, blue water and clear skies, aaaaah! Needed a burger fix since we haven't had one in 3 weeks so back to Barney's for a build your own burger. The place was packed so we sat at the bar and ended up talking with a couple from Boston. Exchanged restaurant ideas and both agreed that Amadeus was on the top of our list and we were sad to see it close. I got my burger with garlic aioli, onions and pickles and Bob had mushrooms, onions, pesto sauce and Gouda cheese. They come with a small salad, cole slaw and French fries. They were seasoned beautiful, cooked perfect and so juicy! Would highly recommend for a good ole burger. Recommended the Parmesan crusted grouper to lady Boston and she moaned the whole time she ate it. She loved it. Love that place.

Monday - Another beach day but a rainy day. Had lots of thunder and lightening and pouring rain. Rainy stopped but it stayed cloudy all day which is nice once in a while. Headed up early to catch a nap since we have been up late every night and went to fishes and more for dinner. Service was good and food was delicious. Headed to the Alhambra where it tried to take all my money but I wasn't letting go! Stopped at the glitz on our way in and came home with all my money. It has really been good to us since we have been here.

Tuesday- heading down for another beach day. Our days are winding down so we have to decide on which restaurant we want before we go home. I will let you know where we end up.
