    Our Aruba vacation!

So, my family and I returned from Aruba yesterday after a week vacation. We are so sad it is over. After all the planning and looking forward to it, it is such a bummer that it is over, but we had a wonderful time!! We left last Wednesday from Boston on Jet Blue non stop. We, being my twin 15 year old girls and my husband. When I say this trip went so smoothly, it could have not gone any smoother. Airports were quiet; we buzzed through customs and arrived both to Aruba and Boston earlier than planned. We had DePalm Tours pick us up and we were headed to the Radisson which I fell in love with! I did ALOT of research with the help of the wonderful people on this forum and finally decided on the Radisson and I am so glad I did. It is the most tropical lush resort and the pool is just amazing! We would get those little plastic chairs and just sit in the shallow end and relax! Getting a palapa every afternoon was a piece of cake and we would get a free cabana after 1:00 each day because my girls love the pool. We got an upgrade with our room and were in the Bonaire tower on the 3rd floor...very nice. Love the drinks they bring to you and had several Amstel Brites and frozen drinks. The weather was soooooo HOT, but the ocean and pool was right at our feet and we were having a heat wave back at home in New Hampshire so we didn't care. The meals were amazing and the people were wonderful. We went to The Buccaneer, Madame Janette's, and Pinchos, and then ate at the hotel and other smaller places. Madame Janette's was without a doubt the BEST meal I have ever had! I want to see if I can get that Almond crusted grouper sent to me...lol. We rented a car one day to show the girls the sights....went to the light house and Baby Beach and they enjoyed shopping downtown. The funny thing is my husband and I were in Aruba 22 years ago for our honeymoon and we stayed at the Golden Tulip. Someone told us that the Radisson is what used to be the Golden Tulip! The island has changed so much, I felt like I had never been there! I loved that there was a casino at the Radisson! I played black jack every night....didn't do too bad and enjoy talking with other guests. I think it rained one morning during breakfast for literally 2 minutes! It was pretty cloudy most days and it is a good thing because it was sooooo hot in the sun. We went one day to Linda's Pancakes...we joke that that visit was a bust. Didn't know the pancakes were thin and nobody liked them..oh well! One day I took a long walk on the beach down to the Divi Phoenix and then up to the Hyatt. I can honestly say that I think the Radisson has one of the most perfect stretches of beach. The Riu Hotel is pretty, but the beach was not impressive. If I went back, I would only stay at the Radisson or possibly the Hyatt...the Radisson was perfect! They are building a Ritz at the end of the high rises. To be ready in 2 years...that might be nice! We hit all the little malls and kiosks, but the girls were a bit bored at night. The only 2 issues I wasn't thrilled with is that there is no internet in our rooms; only in the lobby. This was a drag for the girls, but not a deal breaker. The other thing was they didn't get to cleaning our room 2 days til after 4:00 and at that point, we just refreshed our towels. Aside from that it was a perfect week. I want to thank any and all of you that helped me with my quest for the perfect vacation for our family...it was perfect! Ok, so now, I need to know...what does DH and DD stand for??????????????

Thanks for the great report.... you love some of the same things we do!

    Amstel Brights
    Mme J's and Almond Grouper
    The Radisson and Palm Beach
    JetBlue non stop from Boston

BTW... there are internet connections (not wifi) to connect your computer in all rooms - unless they missed your room.

Yes, sounds like we have similar things in common. What part of the Boston area are you from? I didn't know that about the computers, but we didn't bring a lap top..the girls had their iphones...no biggie for us, but for a 15 year old, it can be!

From the South Shore. We've been doing the Radisson for years after spending 3 trips at the Hyatt. You will be back to the Radisson! The Radisson has always had a business center which the kids should be able to use next year for computer contact with the friends.
