Our Honeymoon at Bucuti!!!! 8 nights 9 days

We were married in Houston, Texas on January 7th, 2012.
Wedding was fantastic, nothing went wrong! Took a Limo to the Hilton near the Airport for the night.
We were flying AirTran. Played our cards right, did lots of searching daily, each ticket was $480 including
tax, round trip. Saved a good bit of money here nice!

    Sunday January 8th, 2012
Arrived at the airport in Aruba around 4:00 PM Aruba time.
    Customs very easy
Taxi ride to Bucuti & Tara Beach Resorts. Did lots of research, and found this was the best place in Aruba for a honeymoon. We will never try anywhere besides Bucuti. We stayed in the Tara Suites.
Room was ready, third floor with a perfect view of the beach. So uncrowded, it never was loud or noisy.
Dinner reservation was at 8:00 PM at The Screaming Eagle.
We did the dinner in bed. It was really really cool.
Appetizer: Escargots de bourgogne.....first time for the each of us. very good.
we pounded a couple Balashi beers, we were very impressed and drank this beer the entire stay.
Entrée: We each picked the steamed arubian rock lobster, with pasta.
This got a 9 out of 10. Very good lobster. Did not want to get out of bed after this meal.
    Screaming Eagle, highly recommended.
Dessert: Honeymoon surprise for us, we were so full I don't even remember what it was.
After dinner we went back to the hotel, and had a few beers at the Sand Bar... Tired from the wedding
and the travel and went to bed!! i guess there are a lot of hotels with hard beds in Aruba? So we read..
Bucuti's beds were very nice and fluffy. We really enjoyed it.

    Monday January 9th, 2012
Got up had breakfast at the Tara Lounge (included with the hotel cost). Good choices, with hot and cold foods.
Hit up the beach. OMG the water is something else. I will never forget the first time I saw the White sand and
Blue Water. It looked like a screen saver... lol. We ordered buckets of beer and drank on the beach all day.
No kids!!! i love kids and will some day have some, but Bucuti is adults only.
Lunch: We walked down the beach to Matthews. Very good sandwiches! Great drinking water in Aruba. Another huge plus for Aruba.
Back to the beach!! You never have to fight for Huts at Bucuti, another plus.
Dinner: .... Well I'm a professional college football fan, and she is coming along as a good fan too! We walked over to Pizza Bob's and get some pizza
and beers. Very good Pizza, I would eat there again.
Went back to the room and watched the National Title Game... (Alabama vs LSU ... boring)!!

    Tuesday January 10th, 2012
Woke up and got some good breakfast at the Tara again. (we did this every morning, and sometimes went outside to each at the Pirates Nest).
Got a front row Hut on the beach, and we drank beer and looked at the water for hours. Got in and swam for a good bit too. Man the Wind in Aruba is
perfect for the Heat. I really never felt hot the entire time on the beach? I'm scared of sharks too. So Hawaii was vetoed from the beginning.
I don't remember if we ate lunch or not....i think just a huge breakfast and we had some snacks. We actually went to the local market to buy beer (ton of money saved)
    and snacks for the room.
Dinner: hehe. Barefoot. This place is so cool. Our first on the beach dinning experience. Sunset. Watching the Airplanes come in was really cool too.
We met the owner and he took all the pictures of us that we asked for.
Appetizer: Dutch Crab Cakes. Amazingly good.
Entrée: Wife got the Tuna Pepper Steak. I've never tasted a flavor like this. It was so good.
I picked the Duet of Lamb. this was my first time to have something like this. I really enjoyed it and we cleared our plates!!!
We had some coffee and some more honeymoon dessert! This place was our favorite on the beach dinning experience. 9 of 10.

    Wednesday January 11, 2012
Got our breakfast in as usual, and decided to head to downtown for some shopping! Man those cruise ships are really big, never been next to one
that close up before. We did some shopping for the family members and got some good deals and shirts. We always felt very safe walking around
downtown Aruba. We decided to take the Bus back to our hotel after a couple hours. Grabbed some lunch at the hotel and went to the pool for a couple
    hours to relax.
Dinner: The greatest dinning experience of my life. The best place in Aruba, CARTE BLANCHE. lol this place was amazing, we booked way in advance. The place
only seats 14 people and has a "bar" type setting. They had flowers for me and my wife on the table when we arrived, (we were seated right in the middle, best seats).
Glen and Dennis really know how to show a good time. We ate and drank from 7-11 pm, and got a ton of pictures. We each did the 5 course meal, and the wine parings.
Our bill with tip was $360 bucks. This was about what I expected after researching. Each wine paring works perfect with the dish. Now, we are both born
and raised from Texas. We have steak weekly. This steak and rack of lamb, was by far the best I have ever had in my life. The steak was so tender, you
could cut it with a butter knife. I have no idea how he cooked it so perfect. I've never seen anything like this before. The entire evening was perfect. If you go to
Aruba, please go to Carte Blanche. It is worth every penny, and will be the best dinning experience of your life. We got pictures with Glen and Dennis
after dinner in front of the place. I will post pictures later on. We made friends at dinner, they were staying at the hotel next to ours. They gave us
a ride home! We will never forget you Carte Blanche, we hope to see you again soon! Perfect. 10 of 10.

    Thursday January 12, 2012
Same story in the morning, eat breakfast, and hit up the beautiful beach all day! We miss the water and white sand so much. It's been less than 2 months, and
I'm ready to go back now.
Dinner: Passions on the Beach. This was our second on beach dinning experience. Passion's was very good, and very professional. You can tell they have been
around Aruba for a long time? We got tons more pictures and had some more amazing food.
    Appetizer: Black bean soup.... amazing.
Entrée: Wife had grilled Salmon with scallops. it had a sweet taste to it.... pretty good.
I had the Rocking hot Shrimps... I told them I wanted it extra spicy!! It was very good. The experience was nice, but Barefoot beats this place. Still
I give Passions a 8 out of 10. Would go back.

    Friday January 13, 2012
Rented a Jeep and saw all of Aruba!!! We started off at the California Lighthouse, and ate lunch at the place there (don't remember name). It was okay.
So we go off road, and start going on the trails. Bumps!!! We ended up at the Chapel. It was really cool. At this time, we saw a couple we met from
our hotel, and one of the Hotel staff members. He had lived in Aruba his entire life, and offered to give us a free tour of the Island. We were so lucky we ran
into him. He showed us everything, including the caves. The caves were pretty cool, we toured them all the way to the back of the caves. We also stopped
at Charlie's, which is a local bar in San Nicholas (where guide lived). We had a couple of beers and I put my business card on the bathroom door, as do many people.. lol.
After this we toured mored of the "hidden" island, and ended up at Baby Beach!! Very glad we went here. You can walk out like 200' in the water, and the
water is still at your waiste... pretty cool! We had a couple beers at Mama something... cant remember. They were cool. We then were taken to a hidden spot
on the island. This is where all the professional kite surfers do there thing. I would never try what they were doing, pretty impressive, and crazy!!
Next we went to this local fresh seafood place. It's right down the street from the Flying Fishbone... fresh fresh fish and shrimp. Very good! We considered
this an appetizer, since we still had reservations at Flying Fishbone later that evening.
Dinner: Flying Fishbone, amazing setting, with great food, but felt a little crowded.
We each had soup and salad, for our "second" appetizer within the last couple of hours.
For dinner we each had Lobster, Steak, and Shrimp.... we were so full after this... we didn't want to drive back!! Drove back in our Jeep, about a 20 minute drive?
Hit up the Sand Bar for some more beers! Had the jeep ready for pickup at the hotel, for the next morning. I think we paid like $100 bucks for 24 hours? Very worth it.
We were so lucky to run into our buddy from the Hotel. He showed us the entire island. Flying Fishbone = 8 out of 10.

    Saturday January 14, 2012
Ate some more good breakfast at the pirates nest, and took it easy by the pool. We had Jolly Pirates today!!! Went out on the tour and had a blast. First
time we have ever gone snorkeling. The guys are very fun, professional, and safe! The rope swing was cool. My wife was the only female to do a complete flip!
We did the 3-6pm tour? It was the perfect amount of time... not too much or too little. After Jolly Pirates we headed back to the hotel to get ready for dinner.
Dinner: Windows on Aruba. This place was pretty cool.
Each had a big salad for an appetizer.
Dinner: My wife had Sea bass and risotto. I went with the Strip loin and teriyaki... not bad... but not Carte Blanche!!!! This place had a great staff,
and they really took care of our needs. I give this place a 7 out of 10. The setting is very nice.
More beers that night, and passed out early!

    Sunday January 15, 2012
Started to feel the honeymoon coming to an end.... really start feeling sad. We spent a good bit of time on the beach, soaking it all in. Got Pizza Bob's.. Finally went to a casino to place
a bet on a football game... We won $100 bucks!! We don't care for casinos, anywhere. For dinner we went to the high rise, and ate at The Hard Rock Café.
Pretty good stuff, watched a football game and had a great time. We walked around on the street and went into a few shops.
Went back to the hotel for more beer, and began to slowly pack up our bags.....
Enjoyed our last night at Bucuti! Oh yah, my wife climbed one of the trees and pulled down a coconut! The bartender at the sand bar cracked it open for us! Good Stuff!

    Monday January 16, 2012
Got up early to soak in Eagle Beach one last time! Packed our bags and went to Matthews for a quick bite to eat. Took a taxi to the airport, and on the way
saw rain for the first time of the trip! Aruba was sad to see us go, and I don't blame her! We both had tears in our eyes when we were entering the airport.
We didn't want to go home, but were so fortunate to have this amazing opportunity at age 24.

    Quick Facts and Comments.
Aruba is amazing, Eagle Beach is more Amazing, Bucuti is the most amazing. We loved everything about Aruba, and had the best experience of our life.
We hope to come back once more before we have children!. We met so many people there, that said they would come to Aruba and stay for months at a time.
Yes.. i see how people can do that. It really never gets old. We met so many people from the North East. Did not meet any fellow southerns while we
were there. Everybody loved the way we talked... haha. We felt that Aruba was a perfect way to start a marriage. As soon as we got there, I told my wife
that my parents would fall in love with this place. We felt spoiled, being so young, and experiencing places like Aruba, Bucuti, and Carte Blanche. It's
really going to be hard to vacation anywhere else. Why not just spend the little extra money and go to Aruba ???
Let me know if you have any questions about my posts. I did research on this trip for an entire year, and it really paid off. We had reservations everywhere.

How do you Aruba people say it? Aruba Addict? Yes, add two more to the list!

First things first, congratulations on your marriage. Long life and much happiness to you both. And a honeymoon in Aruba. What a great place to start off your life together.

One of the best and one of the most enthusiastic trip reports I've read in quite a while. Glad you enjoyed your honeymoon so much.

You have learned what so many of us here have learned; Aruba can become very addictive.

Hopefully you'll get back to Aruba very soon.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful story with us.

My husband and I went our first trip for our 20th wedding anniversary, we have been back every year since and we are booked in October for our 7th consecutive trip. We have been a few other places but nothing compares.

Congrats to you both on your wedding, and becoming addicts to Aruba like so many others. Next time you guys will have to try Madame Janettes.
