Talking Paradise Beach Villas - Trip report 8/8 - 8/15/15

Another, great, great trip to paradise. Landed on Saturday, August 8 in early afternoon. I have a timeshare at Paradise Beach Villas on Eagle beach. After dropping off bags we headed straight to Ling & Sons for some groceries. I always have good intentions of fixing some meals in the room, but we always go to restaurants at night so I make some lunches. Our first night is always at Chalet Suisse next door to us. It's always a pleasure to see Benny, the icon there, and the food was excellent as usual.

This is a relaxing vacation for us so instead of running around with activities, we veg out at the beach all day and sometimes venture around for lunch. After being in Aruba for 25 plus trips I've seen a lot of the sights and done many of the activities. I still savor taking a sunset sail cruise in the evening. Went to our usual spots, Elliotti's near Costa Linda, Chef's Table, Fishes and More by the high rise hotels and my all time favorite, Flying Fishbone in Savenetta. Also tried a new one that opened in December called Quinta del Carmen right past Super Foods. Wonderful! It is courtyard dining, comfortable and not warm, beautiful setting and the service was excellent. Food was very, very good and prices moderate. It's worth trying. The parking is the usual small parking lot next to the building but it's doable. Also a stop to Casa Tua for some good pizza.

This trip I was fortunate enough to witness a leatherback turtle hatching at 7:45 am one morning!!! It was great!! It was on Eagle beach right near our beach palapa and there was a crowd of at least 25 people. Got photos and video on my phone. Once one makes its appearance popping out from the sand they all push him up and they come out quickly like popcorn!! What a sight! One or two were a little confused and went the wrong way but they all headed toward the water and made it in safely. Too bad they aren't safe in the water and such a small percentage, maybe 1 or 2% make it to adulthood. But they were cute!

Time goes so fast in Aruba when you're at home there. We usually meet up with friends at our Paradise Beach so it's a nice time. Look forward to seeing One Happy Island again.

Have you ever sat at the tables in the water at Flying Fishbone? Any thoughts on those? I noticed you consider it a favorite and we like some of those same restaurants. Do you have a favorite dish there? We are considering it for November.

we sat at one of the tables where our feet got wet
we were both too lifting our feet due to crabs nipping at our toes

our last visit to FF was in 2009 with our son and daughter in law.
we felt that for the price, there were other places closer to Eagle beach that we enjoyed just as much.

i think that we all had grouper or maybe snapper.

    it is a lovely setting.

tracey, typcially you do not rent a car. it is quite a pricey r/t taxi ride.

Thanks for the review and helping me realize I left out a few words in my question..lol.

Jon loves the idea of toes in the water. I showed him some pictures. It's part of my master plan to get a car for a few days

Paradise Beach Villas was the first resort I stood at in Aruba some 20 years ago. I usually stay at la cabana but walk bye PBV and I notice that the pool is usually not crowded and it looks very peaceful there. Chalet Suiise is an excellent start and I'm glad you enjoyed QDC. Thanks for the report.

Have they opened the roof top bar at PBV yet? Also wondering if the new smaller bar opened, it's located by the gate. Thanks and so glad you had a great trip.

Turtle hatching...what an extra bonus to see ! My favorite pastime in Aruba is just vegging on the beach and happy hour of course . Sounds like you had a great vacation .
