Forgot to mention we stopped at the Orange Plaza by the Pizza Hut behind the low rise area yesterday. Great little rum shop with tasting samples. Run by local couple. We'll go back and get names and more info when they are not so busy. Did leave with a bottle of chocolate flavored and a Aruba Ariba rum. Need to try more. He has a 150 proof that is very smooth and what I drank in my 20's. Not sure if I'll buy a bottle but was nice to taste! There a cranberry and vanilla I'd like to bake with. I bet others on here have been there. They do bubble wrap bottles you want to pack for home. Hubby says no need, they'll be gone by then!

Awesome stuff Could the sheets be twin XL? Like college dorm beds (39x80)? How wonderful of you to visit. Was it difficult to leave?

I think I may have to schedule a little rum tasting! Especially after visiting the children!

Maybe a metric size on the sheets? And Jacki, any time is a good time for a rum tasting so schedule soon, schedule often. Thanks for sharing your trip with us Gramdee! It's so nice you took time to visit the orphanage.

Falling behind on the reports, too much effort to get up and leave the pool or beach! Lots of reading time last two days.
Also took part of a watch created by owners here . We had a baby bird fall from a nest near the pool. He hopped to pool and fell in twice and was scooped out both times. For two days we observed his mom coming down to feed him bugs and tiny lizards. He slept at the base of the palm then took off with mom on day three. He was called Norton and had about a dozen "watchers" to keep him from drowning in the pool.
We did go to Palm Beach and to Moombas for a crab wrap for lunch on Wednesday. Nice lunch and did some people watching down there. Had dinner in front of La Cabana at Los Ramblas ?, did I get that right? It was fine. We had intended to eat at Mangos but the sewage smell there was strong that night. What a shame. Is it effecting Passions too? We didn't wander down there.
For those interested I haven't measured the sheet but showed it to Gertie our Concierge. She said it was not a twin and not sold here on the island. I guess it's a bunk size. Thinking that flat twin size would work.
I hope that eastern coastal storm doesn't delay or cancell flights for Aruba bound people this weekend!

Thanks for the updates..... Glad Norton is safe... hope he does well and thanks to everyone for watching over him. I'm planning Amsterdam Manor for 10 nights at in July.... I'm really starting to get concerned about the sewage odor I keep hearing about.......

That's a shame about the odor at Amsterdam Manor. I had wondered if it was a one time issue or a recurring problem. We had been thinking about booking AM For a future trip because there are many who love it. I'm thinking we won't chance it.

    the smell is intermittent.
we have noticed it very infrequently in the last 5 or 6 years, but in years prior it was terrible....and sometimes could be smelled at
    amsterdam manor AND lacabana.

in early/mid november 2014 there was the terrible smell again coming and permeating the amsterdam manor area and the beach area.
it was so noticeable that on 2 occasions we had to leave passions/amsterdam manor beach bar and then a day or 2 later we spent the afternoon on eagle beach in front of julios watersports area and the smell was bad then too. we had to leave after a couple of hours, we just couldnt take it.

our most recent experience with the stink seems to be the only stink i have heard of lately til this most recent report by Gramdee.

it is very unfortunate that the septic treatment plant is located where it is.
and........why did i believe that the plant had been relocated elsewhere?
