Paul + Andrea Oct 22-30 Lacabana

I'll be brief!

Weather HOT and SUNNY with some breezes, but not a nice strong breeze that we had been accustomed to.
Some late night showers that interfered with nothing.
Heavy steady rain most of the morning of the 29th.

We stayed in unit 319D @ Lacabana recently renovated and was LOVELY.
Renovations phase 2 is underway and the noise, dirt, dust and workers had no ill affect on our vacation.

Re: The Villas and the WaterPark and the Renovation of the Casino. Well, all i can say is that I have a better chance of getting into heaven than the villa and casino renovation has of being completed within 6 months of their actual projection dates. The WaterPark (Morgans Island) looks like it might actually be completed before mid 2009. I wish i could say that for the new casino and the renovation competion for the villas.

Gas Prices/Car Rental: we used exactly $9 worth of gas and drove less than 40 miles. Car rental from Tropic and per usual service was excellent as was pricing.

Casinos: Nope, not in our budget.

Fine Dining : We ate in our unit a few nights pasta, meatloaf, pizza and salads
AND
enjoyed Madam Janette, Tulip and Lindas.

The ATA came and took our photo and gave the plaque for the Distinguished Visitors.

Went to the lighthouse for a few photos.
Went to Alto Vista for the stations and rosary.

Saw the beach from Tamarijn to Costa Linda and the formation/weather system of OMAR really did a number on the shoreline. Huge boulders of coral and big drop offs made the shoreline pretty awful.
Mother nature with the help of humans trucking in sand will have if looking beautiful in short order.

Met a few fine folks at the Amsterdam Manor's Beach Bar....about 10 bulletin boarders there including Tom and Karen and Islandboy from this forum.

That's about it.
Oh yea.................and with all of the complaining of American Airlines. We have never been more pleased. Our best flights ever. We were very very impressed with the American Air staff/gate agents at Queen Beatrix!

Aruba-been there often, loved it, always want to stay longer.
Andrea

Andrea your new title is Ambassador....make sure you change your avatar.
My relatives got one and proudly hang it in their home..and even take it to aruba with them to put in their room....They are very proud of it, and you should be to. Will you be in the paper?? Let us know, cindyoxox

paul feels like he is now the appointed dictator of aruba.

the certificate of distinction is now hanging in the office.

we stuck to our budget
i did a little christmas shopping there (lots of aruba aloe and stroopwaffle purchases) and will make up a few gift baskets for my nieces and son's girlfriend.

how do they verify that you have actually been to Aruba for the specified consecutive years? Is it consecutive years or number of visits??

It is consecutive years. I'm close to my 20th visit but next year will only be my 14th year so I have 6 more years to wait. But we do have a very nice Distinguished Visitor certificate hanging on our wall in our office at home.

This will be our 10th visit over 12 years.

i have no idea how they verify the consecutive visits.
