Ugly story abut immigration..... I woulda bought 4 bottles of vodka and Kauhla instead of 2.... anyway, I'm glad you made it to the Playa Linda safely and hope you really enjoy your Aruba stay.

Once arriving at our hotel yesterday, we did some exploring. The new pool and pool area looks fantastic. They are still working on some finishing touches. There are some pavers that still need to be laid to the left of the pool, a few tiles need to be added to the hot tub, and glass walls need to be put up around the pool deck. The grand opening is still set for August 1st from what Ive heard. Ill put up a video sometime today.

We then headed to The Beach Bar. My mom and I each had a strawberry banana daiquiri and a mud-slide. It was happy while we were there so it was 2 for 1, our total was $16. They have happy hour daily from 12-7:2 for 1.

We then headed back to the room to take a nap and get ready for dinner. We both napped for about an hour after a long day of travel. We got ready, then headed to Amore Mio for dinner.

We ordered two Margarita pizzas and two glasses of white wine. We enjoyed the pizza, but thought it was a little over priced. The pizza was 16 dollars each, for a 6 cut pizza. It wasn't outrageous but a little over priced. The waiter wasn't very attentive. They weren't busy, and he only checked back with us once after receiving our pizzas. We will more than likely return as the pizza was good, just wish the service was better. It definitely a good first night dinner since its so close to our hotel.

After dinner we went to the Occidental Casino. My mom and I both had different results at the casino. For my mom, she was the winner, for myself the casino won. My mom played Roulette and won $84. I on the other hand lost $30. We ended up staying at the casino for a little over an hour.

This morning when we woke up the weather was overcast and very windy. However it turned out to be gorgeous. By 1030/11 there wasn't a cloud in the sky and the wind was pretty calm.

My mom reserved our chickee by the pool at 4 AM then headed back to bed. We woke up around 8 this morning. We took a walk along the walkway along the beach. We walked from the Playa Linda to the Divi Phoenix and back. At that time of day there were a lot of people walking and running. From last summer when we were here there were changes to the RIU which look awesome. You can now see into the pool area from the walkway and it looks very nice.

On our way back to the room we stopped at Eduardo's. I had a chocolate chip muffin, it was delicious. We are looking forward to trying an Acacia fruit pool. People we have been talking to rave about them.

We came out to the pool around 11, after picking up some groceries at super foods. We made it to pool just in time to be entertained by water aerobics. We always enjoy the music and watching people dance in the pool.

We also visited Scotts Brats today! Scott and Leslie were friendly like usual. We didn't get any food, but had drinks. My mom had 2 bloody Marys and I had 2 vodka and lemonades. They are very strong, you dont realize it till you stand up from the stoles lol! We had a few other drinks by the pool before lunch.

We had lunch out front at Burger Burger. They got a new menu from last summer, it isn't as extensive. I had grilled chicken and fries. My mom had a cheeseburger and fries. We eat lunch there every year, its always good and convenient. The food was good, but the service was not great. We were the only table, and our waitress wasn't attentive. She never came back to give us our bill, the manager brought it to us after we began to become frustrated. Our food also took longer than expected for being the only table.

For the rest of day we laid by the pool and soaked up some sun. We also floated in the ocean for a while.

That's an awesome happy hour! 12-7 2 for 1s totally makes up for the crappy immigration experience. I wonder if there was some major issue going on that employees were not allowed to disclose to guests and that was the reason for the silly excuse...

There might have been a major issue, I guess we will never find out though. We asked the shuttle bus driver from the rental car company, he told us it been very busy the past couple days and that immigration has been slow. So who knows. Hopefully they resolve the issue. That could be a negative to first timers to the island. If it continues to be that way it could really hurt the island!

Dinner last night was at Driftwood in town! Needless to say we won't be back. The services was great until it came time to get our check. However before then the waitresses were both very attentive. The food on the other hand was not so great. I ordered two appetizers as my dinner, the crab cake and the calamari. I was so excited to try the crab cake as it is one of my favorite foods at home. It looked like a pre packages crab cake. Here wasn't one piece of lump crab meat, it was a lot of filler. The calamari was very good though, it was all rings, and they were rather large. I was happy to only get the rings because I only like them. My mom got the fried shrimp dinner. She thought it was okay but she didn't love it. I had two pieces of her shrimp, I agreed they weren't the best I've had on the island.

After dinner we headed to the Alhambra Casino. It is one of our favorite casinos on the island. There is a great mix of locals and visitors. We played Roulette for a while but ended up walking away with nothing. We then played the slots for a little. I lost $60 last night and my mom lost $50. Hopefully our luck will turn itself around.

The weather today is gorgeous! Not a cloud in the sky and there is a nice breeze. We are sitting here by the pool enjoying the sun. Water aerobics is about to start.

My mom has been able to reserve a prime spot right in front of the pool.

I've been watching the Playa Linda web cam and the progress of the pool. We were there the day they closed it to start renovations. I have to say, in terms of Aruba-time, they made good progress quickly.

There is nothing better than waking up in paradise every morning. Every day we've been there there hasn't been any over cast at all. The weather has been gorgeous. It rained last night at some point. My mom came out at 4 to reserve our chickie, it was very wet she said.

Im two days behind on my report.

    Tuesday:
We have become regulars at Scott's Brats! We've been there everyday since arriving. We go and have two bloody marys and two orange juice and vodka. You never realize how strong they are till you stand up after. Tuesday and Wednesday we ended up having lunch there. We had two quesadilla on Tuesday and one yesterday. They are delicious. Originally on Tuesday we got them made with just cheese and pepperoni. No jalapeņo. Then Leslie convinced us to try them it with jalapeņos. They are even better with the jalapeņos. It adds just enough kick.

We didn't hit up any happy hours Tuesday, rather we brought beers and mix drinks down to the pool. We had our own party at our chickie. We invested in a portable speaker for this trip. So we've been playing our own music. Our chickie neighbors have been enjoying it too.

Dinner tuesday day night was late. I look a longer nap then intended and it set us back a little. So we didn't head to dinner till 930 or so. We thought about trying J.H Yee for hibachi. However the menu seemed limited so we decided to stick with Benihana. The food was good as usual. I had the shrimp dinner and my mom had the filet. We both loved our dinners. We sat with an other couple. Only 4 of us at the table. Our chef was great. He was very funny and engaging. Myself and the female member of the couple got to crack the egg for the fried rice. However the service wasn't that great. We waited 20 minutes to be seated. Then once we were seated we waited about another 45/50 minutes before the chef came to start cooking. The waitress never said anything about the wait. She wasn't very attentive either. Look her a while to take our order and to fill up our water glasses.

After dinner at Benihana we went and gambled at the Hyatt for a little. We were bob unlucky again. So we didn't stay very long.

My my dad arrives to today so we are about to leave to get him at the airport. When we get back to the hotel a little later, I will post about yesterday adventure!

    Pasa Bon dia!
