Spent the day at the pool.
Strolled over to the Marina Towers to watch the pagara at 12:35. What a massive crowd. We stayed at LaCabana last year and compared to that was night and day. The whole process was about 1/2 hour for the pagara. The string of M80s started before the govt. building and ended at the Crystal casino. Deafening describes it best. As the string started the smoke of gun powder got stronger and the noise war zone quality. As it burned the crowd moved with it down the street. It could have a walk on Washington for the size of this massive wall of people moving. Rob and Jen moved with it running through the Marina tower to their pool deck and then out the door near Louis Vuitton. At the end was a large bang . As the wall of people moved so did the sweepers and leaf blowers. God they cleaned up fast.At the end a parade of HD motorcycles drove through the street.
Back to the pool.
intermittently all day Pagaras and noise was going on.
Cleaned up and headed to Pinchos for a lovely meal, 7:30 reservation. Service exceptional, food fabulous. Grouper #2 meal for me. Our niece and nephew loved everything about the day.
Dinner done around 10, went back to hotel, changed shoes and headed to Marina Tower pool deck where there was a large crowd.
What was very interesting was that locals filled the Marina parking lot, had their chairs and tables, bubbly and music blaring for this event. They lined the dock. Looked like a giant tail gate party.
on pool deck we waited for 11:55 for more Pagaras to stop and fireworks to start. I would say the fireworks lasted about 1/2 hour. At this point we were exhausted and headed back to the suites through the crowd that had not broken up yet.
we sat on our deck back at the room and continued to watch fireworks over the top area of West Deck.
All in all it was a perfect start for 2016!
Heres to a perfect 2016, happy new year friends! 365 new days ahead!!! God bless
From your reports and the others I've been reading from yesterday, sounds like we need to add New Years in Aruba to the bucket list. I can just imagine the excitement in the air! Happy New Year and thank you for sharing!
We have been lucky enough to experience one New Year's celebration in Aruba and I highly recommend it for anyone except maybe someone with PTSD. It is like being in a war zone. Happy New Year everyone!
