And the reviews....
We didnt completely stick to our plans... but for the most part we did.
Chalet Suisse - One of my faves on the Island. We pushed back our 6pm reservation to 7pm with no problem. They did as we finish up by 9 though so they could squeeze another sitting in. I had a veal dish that was excellent. The staff was friendly and they had a baby seat for my daughter. A great first night dining experience. Will definitely be back on next trip.
Barneys (Skipped Casa Tua) - This was our 2nd visit here - I adore this place. Great prices - super friendly dutch staff. And an expansive menu and very family friendly. I had the chicken schnitzel and mushroom soup. Tried the escargot as well. And we got in with no reservation during the busiest time of year.
Taste of Belgium - Great beer - modern atmosphere. Food is pretty good and it was a nice dinner for New Years Eve. Even though we got there at 10 after 7 - they still let us order the early bird 3 course dinner for $28.
Ruth's Chris - Top notch as you would expect from a Ruth Chris. Very expensive as you would expect. The food is on par with the 3 Ruth's Chris I have eaten at in the USA. We actually had a private dining area for half the evening. It was a nice date night and we polished off a bottle of wine!
Cuba's Cooking - This was the dinner I most looked forward to and was most dissapointed in. The place is a bit overpriced for slighly below average food. The new location is nice - but not worth the $$. They do make a good Mojito. Probably will not return.
Screaming Eagle - Excellent spot on Eagle beach. Drinks are amazing and the food was top notch. The bed's look silly and glad I didnt book one of them to dine in. May go back here for a special occasion. Prices were more reasonable than I had imagined.
Pinchos - Hands down my fave restaurant on the Island. The food is consistenly good (simple yet good). The location is amazing - out on a pier. The sunsets are always spectacular. And the best part is Chef Erwin, Anabela the owner and the wait staff. Everyone is friendly and there to make sure you enjoy. We have dined here 9 times and will never miss a visit during our Aruba trips. We met a nice couple while dining as well.
5 Burgers Aruba - May be a little biased here as we are friends with the owners, but the burgers do kick butt. About as similar to 5 Guys as you can get without a lawsuit. We dined here on New Years Day and it was one of the very few things opened on Palm Beach.
Iguana Cafe - Had appetizers here one afternoon and the Pistechis are always a fave snack. Hadnt been here in about 4 or 5 years and it hasnt changed one bit.
Linda's Dutch Pancakes - Impressive looking, average tasting. We had never tried before - they were a little greasy for my tastes, but it was a nice and different way to start the day. Super kid friendly - they had toys for my fdaughter to play with.
The new Super Food store is stunning - and very busy! It is a Super convenient location to our condo and may become the supermarket of choice.
The Alahambra Casino / Shops are gorgeous. On date night we went over to the casino and spent hours in the spectacular Fusion Wine/Piano Bar and explored the new shops which are all modern and super clean. Gambled for a bit also. This is my new "hangout" when we can escape the baby.
Great New Years Trip!
