    Surf Club Nov 10-18

I always promise myself to post a daily trip report, however it seems the Balashi's take over and I never get around to posting anything. Anyhow this is what I can remember from our November trip to Aruba. I will try to keep it short and to the point.

Surf Club: Beach seems to be getting worse as the years pass. After years since the last building was finished I really thought the beach would be nicer. Seems dirty and a smell of sewage comes from the dock area from time to time. In no means is the property I own at a dump, I just expect more when I own with a brand with the name Marriott. The Hotel and Ocean Club beach is in much better condition than the Surf Club and I just wish the Surf would improve. Stayed at the Hotel for and extra night with spectacular accommodations and no problems.

Food: All the usual suspects with great meals and no problems include:
    Smokey Joes: Fantastic
    Mj’s Awesome
    Bingo's Great
Champions...Just okay and over priced!! But where else are you going to watch the game and have wings and bar food. Plenty of Steeler nation on hand as usual!!!
Wacky Wahoo: My favorite place for or Seafood on the Island. I remember Harold and his wife Roxy from the Sunday BBQ at the Hadicurri, and it keeps getting better each year I visit them.....outstanding.
Linda's for Breakfast (new) Thanks to the explorer213 the official addict of Linda's to lead me to the is place. I feel the love in this place. Amazing Dutch Pancakes.
B-55...Fair nothing special service was poor.
Barney's.. Disaster. Service, Food, and atmosphere all poor. No details since it would be a full page. Just Poor!!

    Activities:
Tranquillo was amazing. Hour boat trip to Spanish Lagoon with drinks. Went snorkeling at the outskirts of Mangel Halto. Then took a drift boat to some of the most amazing sites and untouched reef about 20feet deep. Anthony, Buster and the crew did an amazing job and this trip was outstanding!! Also caught a Mahi_Mahi on the way down.

Snorkeled every day at Boca with an abundance of fish to look at. Witnessed seven snorkel boats there on Tuesday. This concerns me about the reef and how it may becoming abused. Multiple people walking and standing on the reef. This just breaks my heart to see, and I wish boats would take more time explaining the importance of caring for the reef.

Cloudy day and went to the Ostrich Farm... what a great trip with plenty of funny photos and laughs. Not saying this is a "must see" but if you happen to encounter an overcast day please take a visit.

Stopped at Bushari Go Carts on the way back and had a blast.... Boys 12, 13 had a great time… me too. Only place that will serve you a beer and then put you in a car and tell you to drive..... Only in the Islands... Fast cars and track. Owner said he is putting lights in before the end of the year.

Carnival on Thursday was good.... Just a sneak peek on what you will see during the real Carnival, but a good time with cold drinks and some time hanging with the locals.

Stellaris Casino was tight as usual, but still a nightly visit. All worthwhile when I stumbled across Andrea and her husband Paul!!! Nice to meet both of you.
Next Aruba trip to the Marriott Surf Club July 2018.

it was so nice to meet you and your wife as well. did she ever move from the video poker machine? hopefully with full pockets.

thank you for posting your trip report and so many others have mentioned about the condition of the surf club section of beach......... frustrating and disappointing, especially with the name brand MARRIOTT and the expectations that come with that name.

we dined at barneys 2x and had outstanding service and dinners. my husband is saying it is his new favorite place.
i am sorry that you had a bad experience there.

also too, the B55 is also one of our other casual dining favorites and have had SLOWWWWWWW service there a few times. once we did not get our bill after asking for it repeatedly. so we did a "guesstimate" and left the cash and left. we never got arrested, so apparently we left enough.

merry christmas (or should i say the more politically correct Happy Holidays ?) to you and yours
