After a long countdown we finally made it. The airport was a breeze and our connection went smoothly in Miami. We've done 1st class for about 1/2 of our trips and really I don't think there is any going back for us. It just set the tone for a relaxing trip. Plus we had breakfast and lunch included
Arrival at immigration was busy. They were holding people at the top of the escalator but it really was moving along. We've experienced a packed immigration area where people were pushing their way off the escalator and I much prefer the line being held at the top. We were surrounded by complainers which always seems to happen at the airport. People were going on and on about how they had never seen it like that. When the leader of the complainers turned to us for sympathy all I could say was "what can you do, at least we are here". And I mean that, the airport is a hassle, but its the price you pay for paradise. Our flight landed a little early. The line for us was back to the area were the ladies are giving out the Divi coupon bags. It went back a lot further though. From getting off the plan to the taxi was about an hour. The taxi ride to Playa Linda took 45 minutes. Every route we tried was jammed. There were 3 huge cruise ships in port.
Check in was smooth at we have a decent view even though we are just on the 3rd floor. I really like our studio at Playa Linda. The bed and pillows are comfortable and the shower has good pressure. We move down to our 2nd floor rental on Sunday. Wifi here is amazing. I'm typing this from my palapa. The regulars here don't mess around. We got to the beach around 5:30 and most of the front rows were taken. We have a great spot I can live with though. I much prefer this beAch to the Surf Club as far as The crowded feeling goes.
First night for us was an early one. Made it to Pelicans Nest just It time for happy hour. The music was a mix of house and Latin styles. The crowd was loving it and the bartenders were having fun. We had shrimp cocktail which is always good there, the shrimp are big.
From there we went to Carlitos to watch a little football. There was a guy singing classic country karaoke which we enjoyed. Found my message from Mr & Mrs WaltVB! That was fun, thanks guys! We made the mistake of ordering chicken wings There, and won't do that again.
After a long travel day, drinks, and food that upset my stomach, I was ready to call it a night. We watched the sunset, which was beautiful of course. I went to the room to relax and cool down and Jon headed back to the PL Beach bar to watch more football.
I am now on this crazy sleep schedule that involves a 3-4am wake up, which is late for Jon's normal work routine. I hope to get out of it in a day or 2.
One more thing about immigration. They had 2 long lines instead of a bunch of individual lines for each station. There was a worker telling us which line to go in then it appeared that all flights from the US we're going to the left. I like the single snaking line better than rolling the dice and hoping you pick the right line where you don't get stuck behind someone with issues.
I can't believe you find the SC less crowded lol...
I have heard some of the things people do at the PL and always think that people at the SC shouldn't complain
Can you post some pictures of what the units look like? I have always wondered as many people ask us about the PL. The rental price point always seem very reasonable for a Palm Beach timeshare.
Not sure I said that right. Surf Club is way more crowded. I've heard PL owners can be territorial but we have not experienced any if that yet. I will take some pics and post when we get home. Studio here feels similar size to Surf but with a 2 burner stove top and bigger fridge.
