You're right, Tracey. You just can't beat the area around The Beach Bar and Scott's Brats.

Here's hoping you can reclaim your deposit from the Hyatt Casino!

...and another great thing about Playa Linda is that everyone has access to a Dunkin Donuts right there on the beach! (very close to Scott's Brats). While I love escaping to the magic of Aruba, there are some creature comforts that I like to maintain from my routine at home such as an occasional stop for a nice cold iced coffee treat from Dunkin Donuts. At Playa Linda, that little indulgence is right there on the beach. Perfection (for me).

I had one of those DD iced coffees yesterday! I'm not much of a coffee drinker but those are so good! The iced coffe at Dushi Bagels is not very good. They bring cream and sugar and you pretty much make it yourself.
Not sure when, but we will be back

    Saturday

We really haven't left our palapa much this trip. We are just enjoying the relaxation on the beach. I really love the beach here at Playa Linda. This was another beach day for us with not much to report. It was overcast but quite pleasant. There were very small waves at Palm beach which unusual. We debated if they were boat wakes but ultimately agreed there was more moveme tin the water than just boat wakes. We spent most of the day watching kids enjoy the beach and joking about how we only ever went camping or Myrtle beach for vacations if we were lucky. We watched the tube rides and the people doing the jet packs water thing that pushes you up out of the water. Jon may do it later this week but he thinks they are charging too much.

We had some sprinkles in the morning but nothing we even felt we needed cover from. We had some nice breakfast sandwiches at Dushi Bagels but the service in the morning there is really slow. We have experienced that before. Our waiter cleared our plates we waited about 15 minutes and finally had to ask him for our check, which I thought was odd. They were not busy. We were just chatting about Our plans so it wasn't an issue. Its not that big of deal, just don't try to catch breakfast there quickly before a flight or excursion.I finally had Jon covinced we should rent a car for a grocery store run and sunrise tomorrow! But don't get too excited, it didn't work out. Thrifty is right outside our resorting there were about 4 people in there waiting so we walked to the Budget booth and they were sold out. Jon gave me the old "it wasn't meant to be" and we were off to find a taxi. Getting a taxi at Playa Linda is not as easy as other hotels. There was no bellman available to help us and we were just ready to get to the beach so we walked over to Holiday Inn and got one right away.

Superfoods was pretty busy and neither of us was In the mood to be there so we grabbed beer and some drinks for the mornings, some sandwich fixings, and fresh fruit. Bud light is so expensive here. We paid about $42 for each case of 24, 10 oz cans. However, this pays for the taxi ride considering we paid about $32nd for a 12 pack at the mini mart the day before.

The rest of the day was at the beach. Oh except for bingo.I went to bingo and found one little shady spot near the hot tub at the big pool. Jon stayed at the beach. I played the first 2 games but then got bored and wanted to go back to hang out with Jon. I have to agree with Kent, I can see where the odds are pretty good there. One problem is there isnt much shade if you don't camp out at the pool all day.

Lunch was sandwiches and dinner were underwhelming appetizers from the PL Beach Bar. Actually the coconut shrimp were huge and the grouper fingers were fried exactly how they should be.
We also made a small donation at the Holiday Inn casino on roulette and slots. We are really limiting our gambling so far. It would be nice to get a small hit to have some "play money".

Sundays plans are more beach time and football at the Beach Bar, Carlitos, or Moomba. We are undecided and it will be determined by how outnumbered we are by Giants fans and how the first quarter of the game goes. Any Redskins fans out there will understand that. We want to stay close to the beach in case the game gets ugly.

Depending on football, we probably won't start doing good dinners until Monday.

Tracey, sounds like you're getting to really relax. We haven't watched much football. Normally Thanksgiving day they have the big screen on in the lobby with lots of folks watching. This year they had the Disney channel on!

    I hate beach tennis

There are 2 guys who have not stopped playing beach tennis directly in front of us for the second straight day. At first it was like oh wow they are good. Now the constant tapping sound of the ball hitting the paddle for an hour straight is making me want to hurt them! We moved, they move down in front of us.

when they go into the water, steal their paddles and ball....leave a note saying they will get it back if they promise to move down to the area between the riu and the phoenix

We definitely have waves at Palm Beach today. They are small and breaking right at the shore. I've seen a couple people having some issues getting out if they didn't time it right. We haven't been in yet, just sitting under the palapa relaxing. It just started raining a little.
Here is my morning report. We had breakfast sandwiches in the room early and We just tried smoothies from Eduardos....man they are good! We both agree that We needed some fresh food in our life this morning and these hit the spot! We walked away to escape the beach tennis tapping and poked in a couple shops here at PL beachside and the stands on the beach near Hyatt. I got a new beachbag. That's about the extent of my shopping.

We are all packed up and waiting on our room change and football games to start. If it keeps raining we may go to Busters instead of the beach.

Loving your report! Makes me feel like I am still there sitting under a palapa reading or sipping the rum punch I would make in the room and bring with me. I have a routine where i fill up a large water bottle with ice, add rum and then fruit punch or juice. One thing I learned about my last trip was that you can plan an itenery, a restaurant list etc but you are going to deviate from it. It depends how you feel when you get there and most of the times its better to just wing it. I felt lazy the first few days so I just rested. Enjoy the rest of your vacation and keep us posted!
