    Tracey and Jon Nov 5-15

    Day 1 Travel day
It was been an interesting one. We left home before 2am to make it to BWI for a 6am flight. First thing that happened was that my husband accidently went through security with my passport and boarding pass and made it through just fine. My agent caught the error and quickly resolved it but it is a scary thought that he could make it through the passport check using a blond womans passpport without a 2nd look.
We had a layover in Miami where we met some frequent visitors which is always fun.
Arrival in Aruba was crazy! Aruba immigration was swamped with people and at one point the escalators were dummping people out with no where for them to go. It got a little hairy till they turned the escalators off and opened 2 additional windows.
At the airport we met Bully for the first time. He was not feeling well so he wasnt very talkative. Poor guy, we hope he feels better soon! He still gave some good recommendations but talking and laughing made him cough so he was limited today.
Check in at the Radisson was smooth. Our room is in the Aruba tower, so far so good.
We dropped off our bags and headed for Pelicans Nest to say hi to a friend of ours who works there. They have a good happy hour. OI finally got Jon to try Amstel Brights. They have a bucket of 6 for $22. He stepped out of his bud light, comfort zone and liked it. Out of nowhere the wind got crazy. I mean scary, crazy like Ive never seen. The restaurant staff made everyine comfortable and safe. They actually closed early because thinggs on their wall were blowing down, a surf board. Luckily no one was hit. Everyone has said they havent seen wind like that it years.
From there we moved on to Carlitos outside of Playa Linda. They have buckets of Bud Light 5 fir $23,and they were playing country music so i am sure we will be back again.
    More to come...gotta run
Not sure when, but we will be back

We're booked at the Radisson for part of our stay as well. I'll be curious how you like it because it's our first stay there. We are also staying in the Aruba Tower. Hope those winds calm down a bit for you!!

Day1 wrap up and Day 2

I promised Jon I would only post when it didnt take away from our time together so there may be times when I abruptly end a post. Also I am very bad at typing on my tablet so ignore the weird spacing and extra commas..sorry.
For dinner on day 1 we had beer and well more beer, and the Garys delight appetizer from Pelicans Nest. (This will be a recurring theme.) These are little grouper nuggets and they are delicious! We went back to our room intending to go to bed but Jon deecided he wanted wings so we did a quick stop at Hooters since its so close. That place is ,what it is. I was surprised that most of the customers appeared to be locals. We stopped in the casino and made a very small donation. We decided that we dont really like the,Radisson casino, cant really put my finger on why though.

Day 2 was a relax day. We reserved a palapa the day before on our way out to the bar. Second row, great location and no need to wait in line. More on that later. I really dont like the afternoon line to sign up. Jon has a job where he has been getting up for work at 2-3am for 19 years so we prefer mornings. 6 is sleeping in for him and Im used to his, schedule now. Our friends all call us the early people.
Anyway we started the morning woth a walk to Linda's but we got there about 30 minutes before they were due to open so we walked back. It was nice seeing where a few restaurants are. That is we hope to go to if we every make it out of happy hour.
We took a taxi to Superfoods, our first ever grocery store trip. We ate a quick breakfast at Jacks cafe, nothing notable here. We stocked up on drinks and a few snacks. I like the store. It was clean and well stocked.
Had some quality beach and water time. Lunch was grouper sandwiches at Bugaloe, very good. The beach at Radisson is nice but there were definitely a lot of cruise ship people there. I dont understnad why people wait in the palapa line when they know others will set up umbrellas in front of their frint row anyway. The people in front of us were first ones waiting in line even after knowing their view could be blocked. For tomorrow we decided to pay to reserve a middle row just to have it and avoid the line.
Our plan today wss to try,Fishes and More fir dinner. That never happened. We went down to visit our Pelicans Nest friends again and just have 1 bucket of beer. One turned, into 3, followed by awesome passion fruit vojitos. Some fun folks from Indiana bought us shots of fireball and we danced and had a great time. Once we drink enough we dont usually eat so we skipped dinner and just had our Garys delight and shrimp cocktail. We left there feeling pretty great and stopped in to Holiday Inn casino where we made a much larger ddonation. Note to self, drinking and gambling dont mix!
Not sure when, but we will be back

The Radisson is very nice. I had heard that the walls were thin and it was noisy but we havent heard anything. The shower is kind of a high step but not too bad. Th e Aruba tower is great for beachand pool access, as well as close to the, lobby. The beds are great, and the service is top notch. No complaints here at all. You will love it.

A few more notes on the Radisson, the water pressure is the best I have ever experienced. We booked a standard room since we dont spend much time here. We are on the 3rd floor over looking the top of one of the restaurants. The palm trees blowing makes a nice scene. Off the corner of the balcony we can barely see the water, but we didnt pay for thatso I dont e xpect it. The furniture in the room is comfy. The balcony is small but enough room to sit and enjoy as I type this. We cant figure out how to turn our tv on but we dont really care to watch it. We are just using our ipod for background noise. Also should mention check in was a breeze.

Thanks for the update.... glad you're enjoying the Radisson. Tip on palapas.... select one down by Gilligan's or beyond and there is less chance of umbrellas being set up in front of you. Wasn't Bugaloe wonderful... ? We think it's the best place for lunch.

Thanks for the tip, will take that advice next time. Lunch was great! I've only taken one picture so far and was the view, from our lunch table...breath taking! Prices are reasonable too.

Thanks for the Radisson info. Good to hear that the Aruba Tower is convenient to the beach and pool. I was concerned about the palapa system at one point. More worried that there wouldn't be one available than where it was located. Looking forward to more reports. Have fun!!
