Tracey and Jon Surf Club winter Escape Feb 22 to March 1
Day 1 Travel day
Got to BWI extra early which ended up being a good idea since a lot of people were stuck there frim the Saturday snow and ice and the Southwest ticket counter was slammed and slow trying to rebook people. We stopped by Phillips and had a crabcake appetizer for breakfast then got Subway for lunch on the plane. The flight was uneventful. We ended up with an empty middle seat between is so I feel like that was a bonus. The airport arrival was the smoothest it has ever been for us. Our flight was due to land at 2:05 but we landed about 15 minutes early. We were in a taxi on the way to the Surf Club by 2:30.
Our room wasnt ready so we dropped the bags and headed to Moomba to get this vacation started right. We had a few beers...okay maybe more than a few then headed back totoo get our room. We have an amazing view from the 10th floor in the Compass tower. We can see the water and all the way to the cruise ships. I take back what I said on Jackies thread about the view not being important! We quickly changed to swimming attire and headed to Pelicans Nest. Had our usual welcome from the great staff there. We continued our night one ritual of welcoming ourselves to the island with buckets of Amstel Bright, shrimp cocktail, and Garys Delight grouper bites. The music was great, Jon jumped off the pier, lots of fun for us. We took a dip in the ocean on our way back, then stopped by for a twirl around the lazy river. It was an early night since we had left home at 3am and our welcome party was a little out of control.
More to come tomorrow, typing this while we cool down and get ready for dinner at Wacky Wahoo!
