    Lazy Monday

We were up ealry and went down to the palapa line around 6. There were already 20 people in line. I dont like standing in lines but shade is a must so I sat for an hour listening to tales of the Boston winter, man I feel bad for y'all!
Next up was unpacking and realizing all of the things I forgot to pack, most importantly our cups for the beach! So now we will add to our collection of Aruba insulated cups. I really like our room, we are in a studio and it is spacious and comfortable.
We took a taxi for a quick Superfoods run for drinks and snacks. We were dealt a devastating blow when we realized they were sold out of Bud Light cans (vacation problems). We settled on Coors Light and went in search of this jalapeno hummus we had last time with no luck. I intended to buy some breakfast food and maybe something to grill one night but Jon vetoed that once we were in the store. That guy has good timing and he knows me so well!
Back to the room and on to the beach for the day. Here is where I have a problem, we stood in line for an hour at 6am to get shade in a spot where I could not see the water. My favorite thing to do is sit on the beach and look at the water. It wasnt that the beach was overcrowded, it is just so cluttered. The chairs with bimini tops are big blockers.
If you are ever looking for us on the beach, jist listen for the crying baby, inevitably we will be in the palapa directly in front of that family. Today was a treat because they were twins and one of them apparently hates sand. The babies werent really an issue, I mean i get it, they are going to have their moments. My complaint was the grandma who only spoke in baby talk and wierd sounds all day to try to calm them...in my head I wanted to turn around and say maybe they dont like that annoying baby voice! We worked it out by floating in the water more than normal. The afternoon they were gone and we napped in our chairs.
Dinner was at Wacky Wahoo. I am going to do a full restaurant review from home. It was really good. The portions are huge. I stepped out of my grouper box and had grilled wahoo, Jon had blackened grouper, and we shared a ceviche appetizer. We couldnt finish our meals and had no room for dessert. We werent planning to go bavk to the room so we dodnt want to carry food around.
Walking back towards the Hard Rock, a man who was either drunk or just learning how to ride a bike came within an inch of running me over. We can laugh about it now, but it was a scary moment.
The rest of the night was pretty mellow. We stopped in the Marriott casino and came out almost even. We just werent feeling it.
    It was an early night.
Got some great news from home, my cousin/maid of honor for life delivered a healthy baby boy yesterday. He was a week late so we missed being there. I am glad we started connecting on these trips or I would have missed the pictures.

That's too bad about your palapa neighbors. Hopefully it will work out better today. Waiting in line for an hour would make me crazy though.

The worst part was not being able to see the water. We may just pay for an umbrella later this week.

If only a dingo could eat that baby...

Just so we're clear, that's a Seinfeld reference (which was a reference to a Meryl Streep movie). I would never advocate a dingo carrying away a crying baby. And neither would Tracey, I'm sure. PM me, Tracey LOLLLLLLLLL

Sounds like, otherwise, you're having a great time.

We can't stand crowds so we don't stay at the resorts. Yes, you give up easy access to everything but the two of us have lots of shade and our own pool. For us, it's worth it. And the drinks are cheap!!

Congrats on the new baby and sorry about the annoying ones lol

Having kids, and most likely being that annoying family at some points in my history, I don't really mind the crying babies much - however, I really want to jump out of my seat and rock them or comfort them in some way. If the kid doesn't like sand, you bring one of those tiny blow up personal pools and stick the kid in that on the beach!

Glad to hear you made it out of this horrible, terrible weather. Sounds like you started your vacation off right.

Now, I may get hate mail for this, but it's my opinion and how we did things. We did not take our kids to Aruba when they were babies. To us, that's no vacation (for us or the people around us if they become fussy which they all do at some point). Still having to worry about feeding the kids, diapering the kids, chasing the kids, entertaining the kids, worrying about the kids around the water would just ruin the whole idea of Aruba for us. Everyone has their own circumstances, and I don't mean to offend, but I hope I don't have a screaming baby near me on the beach when I go in April. There, I've just jinxed myself.

The adult pool at the Marriott seemed quiet whenever I was walking and weaved my way through. If you try it, let us know how it is.

Yay! So glad you guys made it safe and sound. Having an open middle seat is almost comparable to first class seating... almost. We are so excited you guys are there and the trip reports will start coming in. Have several drinks and plates of grouper for us! Wish we could be there and jump off Pelican pier with you guys!!

No, we did not walk from the Surf club. We took a taxi there, then walked back towards the Radisson. From wacky Wahoo to the Radisson and Hyatt area is an easy, walk with sidewalks. we were, done befor sunset so i cannot comment on the lighting. Our plan was to hang out in that area for a bit but we,decided to just take a taxi to the Stellaris Casino. It is walkable for someon in better shape than me Im sure, but I would walk, along the hotel strip then up the, street that way.
Not sure when, but we will be back

Just to be clear, I dont hate babies and I get that the parents dont want them ncnrying either, it just seems like the, last couple trips we are near them. The babies werent as bad as the grandma's baby talk & noises.

Jist back from ArubaBob snorkeling with nothing but good things to say. I will postmore tomorrow. We are cooling down and relaxing for a bit.
