Our second flight was uneventful. Smooth all the way with a flight time of 3:46. We were jetting. Still no Happy Flow lines but it wasn't to long of a wait, only 15 minutes. We exited the airport and Anky from Wheel2go was waiting for us in the lobby with our rental car. After the 5 minute paperwork and check over the car we were ready to go. So far so good. Seat belt on and headed out of the parking lot I reach in my pocket for my cell phone and guess what's not in my possession! After searching the car and bags we come the conclusion that it still in the seat pocket in front of me on the plane! So we head to the departure terminal and Delta counter. Only one person ahead of us and we're waiting patiently. The counter person makes a call and finds out they're cleaning the plane, at least it's still here! Maintaince calls back down to the counter. They found the phone! Whew!!! After a 45 minute delay we're back in the parking lot, heading to the toll booth with our previously validated parking ticket. I insert the ticket and the gate won't open. The ticket spits back out and states that we owe another 6 Florins. We're never getting out of here! So I park the car, again, make sure I still have my phone, and go back in the airport. Apparently for those of you like me that don't know, you have to exit the lot within 15 minutes of validating your ticket it's game over. Needless to say, we spent about half of our flight time from JFK just getting out of the freaking airport!!!
At the risk of being anymore long winded I'll stop here and continue on later, as our first night at the Tropicana was another adventure!

Oh no is right! I am hoping the Tropicana is not a disaster for you but I am not holding my breathe based on your "adventure" statement.

Hopefully today has been a better and less frantic day. I cannot believe you were lucky enough to first remember where your phone was and second to have been lucky enough to have it found and returned. Good for you there was only one person in front of you when returning to check on phone and plane was still there. Like everyone else looking forward to the continuation of your arrival day/night.

Wow!! And I thought my trip to Aruba was a Comedy of Errors. Thankfully you were able to retrieve your phone and get to your hotel before it was too late. That's all behind you, enjoy your time on Aruba.

Arrival day part 2. It could only get better, right? Wrong...So here we are at the Tropicana. For what we paid for our duration I'm not expecting much, at $674 with taxes and fees. We had requested a renovated room, which there were none available in a two bedroom, two bath. Mind you, there's only the two of us, so I ask if there are any one bedroom units available...simple question. After about 15 minutes we get a positive yes, but we'll have to move in 11 days...not a problem. We finish checking in and go to our room. First sign of what's to come, the room key(s) don't work. Still calm and mind you we haven't touched a drop of alcohol, even after the airport ordeal, which by the way I could really have used a drop by now. Back down to reservations to get new keys. Apparently they had coded them to the room number that we were originally booked to...change is tough in Aruba. Ever asked for a lemon in your drink and got a lime. Back up to the room, keys worked...progress! We walk into the room and find it occupied. Thank god we didn't walk in to anything that shouldn't be mentioned on the forum. Back down to the desk and we receive a string of apologies. At this point I just want a place to unload and stay the night, Motel 6 would suffice, so I ask for our original room. Sorry, we can't access that now, it's been deleted from our reservation. The digital world strikes again. Finally they find us a room that we can stay in for the duration. We get a two bedroom in the South Tower. We dump our bags, turn on the A/C and head for the nearest watering hole. Let the vacation begin...not! We had a beverage or two, calmed down and remembered that we still needed to go to the grocery store, after all we're here for 17 days and need a few things. Went to Lings and stocked up. We get back to the condo, unpack and stow the groceries and I realize that the temperature has only dropped a couple of degrees since we left. Well it is a big unit, it takes awhile to catch up. Right? Wrong! By now we've had enough, as we've been up since 3am. So we turn the ceiling fans up on high and call it a night. Now I don't know about the rest of you men out there that have traveled with your spouses or partners that are in their early 60's, but room temperature is a big thing. Try planting your beloved in Aruba in a room that has been closed down for who knows how long with no A/C. It's not a pretty sight when the hot flashes start. Picture a raccoon in a cage...we made it through the night, thank god the freezer had an ice maker full of ice! Now here's the icing on the cake. The room phone rings early in the morning. Apparently they put us in a room that was scheduled for maintenance. For those of you who guessed that it was to fix the A/C, you win a free trip to Aruba...kidding. Now that want to move us to another room, again, except this time we get to take all of the groceries too! Maybe we expected to little and got our wish. Next editon...it finally gets a little better. Told you it would be long winded....
