Day 7: Another relaxing day. It was overcast most of the day which gave us a needed break from the sun while poolside. Broke out even at the Casino today. We went to LaTerraza for dinner. There were only about a dozen people seated for dinner so there was zero wait time. We had a couple beverages at Happy Hour and then took our table. It we our first time there so we didn't really know what to expect, other than what we've read on the forum. Overall service was very good. Our food came out in a timely fashion and checkout went quickly. I had a chicken dish and the wife had a spaghetti. The chicken breast was on the tough side, meaning it had to be cut with a knife and not fork tender. It was heavily seasoned, with emphasis on the pepper. The pasta dish was good, but nothing exceptional to the wife. The view from the rooftop is exceptional and the prices reasonable. The jury is still out on whether we'd return. Called it a night from there.

We really have to thank you for taking the time to write a trip report while on vacation. It means so much to us to get some of your tips. We travel the island a lot too. Your restaurant reviews are so great. The first thing we go to on this forum is " My Aruba Story". It looks like you guys have the "Aruba beat" now.
    Thanks Sean and Susan

We like it so far. The pool and grounds are well kept and the staff helpful and friendly. The renovated room that we are in is nice. We usually rent a condo from a private owner in Palma Real, so for us this is a step up in accommodations. We've stayed at the Radisson, Occidental and Westin in the early trips and find that we really don't require those "on the beach" facilities anymore. We always have a car so we go to the beach when we feel the need. They have a lot of growth plans at the Tropicana over the next 4-6 years. Time will tell.

Before I became a Type 1 in 2015 I really enjoyed a craft beer and had a little more variety in diet, so the Local Store was on my A list. We've driven by there a few times this trip and they are still open, but there hasn't been much activity at that time, but it is low season. The wife say's we'll make a stop there just so she can have some chicken wings just for you, and anything else you recommend.

Day 8: The Glitz was finally nice to us! Yippeeee!
Tonight we went local and hit Pika's Corner. Two of my friends have recommended it and now put us on that list. If you want very good inexpensive local food it's the place to go. Both of our meals totaled $20 and change. We'll be back for sure. It's right next door to Wacky Wahoo's. After dinner it was another movie night. What a day, with a win at the casino and dinner for two with a movie for $30. Sorry, like Aruba Curt's last trip. We're doing Aruba on the cheap!

Thank you Sean and Susan. There's not much excitement, we're old, but I know we enjoy reading other's trip reports so why not. We didn't submit any on our last trip in March, as I thought I'd do one when we got home. It never happened and it's so much easier while it's fresh in the embibed mind...
