    Trip #7. 10/29-11/5.

    Day 1. Travel day...
Up at 3:30am to catch a 6:00am out of Syracuse, NY to JFK, then an 8:40am to Aruba. Flying Delta this trip, first time. Everything went on schedule and the flight to the island was as smooth as glass. We touched down shortly before 1pm and spent about 5 minutes getting through immigration. Since we didn't check any bags we walked straight to the exit where Ricky from Wheels2go was waiting there promptly. This is our second time renting a car from him and I must say that so far his service and vehicles have been very good. We spent about 10 minutes going over the car and rental contract, and the off we went. We went straight to Super Foods, got there by 2, picked up our usual staples for breakfast and lunch, along with beer, wine, and rum. Wait a minute...those are our staples. We made it to our condo rental by 3 and unloaded. Had a snack and beverage and then headed to Barney's for grouper night. We sat at the bar and talked to the owners while we had a round of drinks. We took a table and ordered our grouper. I had the French and my wife had the Italian. We were there fairly early so it wasn't that busy. Service and food quality was very good. Enjoyed a couple after dinner beverages and then called it a night, as it had been a long day.

    Day 2:

We started the day as we always do and headed to the gym at the Divi Phoenix. We've gone there the last five trips and find it adequate, but would look at other recommendations from Forum Members.
Since we usually arrive here pale as ghosts, we head to the pool for a limited schedule after the gym to get acclimated to the sun. We've learned from previous trips that the winds on the beach can be deceiving and one can get burned quite easily if you're not paying close attention.
The wife made her own version of rum punch and we headed to the pool. I learned a different lesson after our first day at the pool and tomorrow I'm going to pay better attention on how much rum she adds to the punch. Yowser!
We stopped at Bavaria for dinner and we both had the Chicken Schnitzel. Very good and reasonable as usual. That's it for today. The rum did us in.

Thanks for the updates..... it's my understanding that rum punch does have a spot on the food pyramid!

    Day 3:

We awoke after a 14 hour rum coma.. The first words out of my mouth were "no rum today". So after the usual morning and pool acctivities we headed to Cafe 080. We indulged with a couple of Balashi beers and had the mashed potato with sour crout, topped off with a very large meat ball. Love the local cuisine.

We went downtown, hoping to catch a ride on the trolly, but I t wasn't running. This is the second attempt. Bummer.
So we walked to Yemanja Wood Fired Grill for dinner. OMG! The dinner was fabulous! Presentation, flavor, quality and service were top notch. Definitely we'll return again.

Retuned to to our condo and engorged the local desert that we bought at Super Foods.

    Tomorrow... Beach day.
