trip October 24 thru November 1

Short Report. October 24 - Arrived in Aruba early - around 11:45am - from Philadelphia -no issues. Breezed through customs - no wait. Only delay was waiting for luggage - which was over 45 minutes. Picked up our Tropic rental without any delays and headed for Bucuti. This was our 8th stay here. Our first 3 visits we stayed at the Hyatt. Checked into our garden view superior room, end room on the top floor - so we had an unobstructed view of beach/water. This is our first trip ever that we did not go down town to shopping area, except for dinners. In fact we spent all 8 days laying on the beach. Weather was rather cloudy the first 3 or 4 days - didn't see bright sunshine all day until Tuesday or Wednesday. We were present for the Sunday (October 25th downpour). This was the longest and most rain we have ever experienced since coming to Aruba. We heard that two 1st floor rooms of Bucuti wing actually got flooded out and guests were relocated. We went to Que Pasa that night for dinner and many roads were flooded - saw a few vehicles stuck in the middle of large amounts of water - we got through OK - just a lot of slow traffic. Besides Que Pasa we also went to Barney's - Which on Wednesdays had an All-day early bird special. Also Dined at Bingo, Yemanja, which was our best meal, Mathews (first night tradition), Gostoso for the first time - will definitely go back here (also had no trouble finding it), Papillon which we will probably skip next year. The last night we ended up at the Bucuti Sand Bar and munched on Nachos, which were very good. Our top 3 meals were at Yemanja, Barney's, and Que Pasa. A reminder that after 7:00PM that you do not have to pay for parking down town. No problem leaving on Sunday - Hans was at airport to take car at 11:00am. We were through to gate in about 35 minutes. We used Global Entry at US customs, without any problems - this saved us about 15 to 20 minutes. We did have a delayed departure, as there was a small plane stuck on the runway that had to be towed away. Another great trip. Going back to Bucuti in October 2016 for visit number 12.

thank you for sharing your "aruba story"

sorry to hear that the yellow blazing sun was not present for some of your stay, but i am sure that you made do with a bit of some sun. sometimes the sun is so strong, one prays for a cloud.

thanks for the affirmation about the 7pm free parking downtown.

    again, thanks

Sounds like my type of vacation. Nothing better than spending days on the beach. I've wondered about Que Pasa. We've only stopped for drinks there. Thanks fir sharing.
