Trip Report from beautiful Aruba 12/02/13 to 12/09/2013
To all you lurkers that love to read trip reports, here is ours. Arrived in Aruba 2:30 Sundaya nd met Hans at airport after picking up more duty free booze from Newark airport. Is there ever enough when on vacation? Beautiful sunny weather and warm water greated us at ABC. Went to Young Fellows that night night for some dancing with some local Aruba friends. What a fun place and great BBQ on Sundays! Went fishing out of Saveneeta Monday and caught a giant king fish after a struggle with a wahoo. The wahoo won and took about 1/3 of my king -oh well. Stopped off at the new West Deck and had them cook it for us. What a treat and such nice people there. They treated us so nicely and they have great potato salad that went fantastic with our pan sealed king fish. That night off to Pega Pega for drinks with Ignacio the bartender. We were lucky to be so close so we could crawl home. Each day was such a treat with our papasons in the ocean. This past week a giant Manta Ray would slowly swim up the shore line and give all of us in the water such a treat daily! We had many adventures each day too numerous to mention but some did stand out. The Black Pearl sunset cruise was a highlight. By the way each night brought a better sunset than the night beforeand the sunrises with the birds chirping so loud should not be missed! Mathhews and Mancebo beach for breakfast was great. Charlies bar for shrimp and a cold one-mmmm. Ran into Dan ( san nick, the bent page & writer) for a cold one and some shrimp. He turned us on to Leslie and Scott from Scotts Bratts to pick up a licence plate-(what a great idea) at Busters. What a fun time there w/ Rusty- both Scotts & Busters voted #1 by us. There we we ran into Tom from our board, he is a dog lover too. They are a great gang-did I mention more cold beers? Speaking of cold ones we did hit Esso Rum shop for the coldest beer on the island. Baby beach was different with Mamas Place and the generators running from the truck. Not so quiet as days past, but fun still. The beach was in great condition by ABC. A little thinner by Casa Del Mar. We loved walking to the Bunker Bar for a Balashi and that great view. Moomba beach bar was a blast as always. Veredera- a fun local place behind the airport- had some great music and dancing our last night- Sunday. There are some huge boats at that marina. The bar at Saveneeta is so pretty at night for a sunset. We picked up a kilo of shrimp to cook up and bring to the beach-soo good! We got to the airport 3 hours early around 3pm for a 6 pm departure against our urges to stay longer Sunday afternoon. We were right but enjoyed drinks at the Aiport bar and grille cheese sandwiches for several hours wishing we had stayed longer. Lings is under new ownership by some Dutch guy and the shelves were not so stocked as we remembered. Still a worth while place. Our vacation vault and tumblers made the trip more relaxing. Pinchos-what a cool bar, Salt and Pepper for tapas and music, Pizza Bobs, Mamas food truck by chalet swisse-great cheap lunch, The Paddock, the Divi Bar and Mathews happy hour filled in some fun times. We wished we had longer than a week. Our tip would be to bring more money and spend more time in Aruba.Fantastic weather, great people and an ocean to die for. The lurking on this page really paid off. We got some great advice and we hoped we passed some on.The cheese is so good and they have such soft local bread and Palmera Rum-these are a great deals on the island. We wish we were there now and our jealous of all of you guys that will be arriving soon. For those that go off the beaten track please email me if you find oyster soup w/ a tail - very local. Enjoy!

We stayed at ABC and we love it there. It was the first time time share on the island so it is very small and in a great location-eagle beach. The drink coupons are like $5.00 for a beer and $7.50 for a mixed drink and are good at all Divi and Tam bars. The Bunker bar is a very cool beachside bar that is built over an actual German lookout bunker on the beach. The Black Pearl is great for those looking for a quiet relaxing sunset cruise. Only 10 couples seated comfy padded lounge chairs. Two snorkel stops and free drinks and homemade sandwiches and fruit while you sail. We find it to be a romantic sail to really take in the Aruba sunset with the owners Albert and Joanne. You kust make reservations well in advance online but it is worth it. Just like Hans from tropic car rental-they give the best service and make your trip more enjoyable. P.S I have to mention again, that Scotts Bratts has the best Aruba souvenier with their license plates! Stop by for a meal and a Bloody Mary and you wont be dissapointed.

Your welcome-cpjones. We like that pic of you at Bugaloes-such a fun place to have some drinks and a quick dive into the water to cool off and then back to drinking again. Not many places you can do that.

Sean & Susan - Great trip report, I am a lurker and love everyone's trip reports and always take away something from each. I too love the cheese in Aruba, took home a bunch last December and finally broke down and opened my first one last week. So delicious! I am thinking about checking into the Black Pearl for this news adventure as it sounds pretty nice. Regardless of how long your vacation in Aruba is it is never enough Happy planning for your return trip whenever it may be.
