    Trip Report; Divi AI

Arrived home last night after 10 days at the Divi and reflecting on our stay. Once again, we experienced an amazingly welcoming staff. This trip we never left the resort. I had good intentions on trying some new restaurants but got so relaxed it did not happen. The beach was amazing with gentle, rolling waves. The pelicans took pleasure in diving in for their lunch as close to me as they could get and it was fun observing them. Iguanas were in abundance, sunning themselves by the pool area and trying to steal a bite of salad from the tables at the buffet restaurant. People need to realize they should not be feeding them! I also had a chance to try the berries from the small round cactus plants. So, I was always checking the plants for berries. It was sad to leave but I know I will be back.

Sounds like my trips to the Divi! We have ventured out to the Jolly Pirates and a little shopping but that's it. We are beach people so all we need is a chair, the ocean and a cold beverage (or two) and we are good to go. It's tough to come home and go back to the real world though. Start planning next year - it helps - as do these trip reports. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Peg - Welcome home and I am happy you guys had a great time as usual at the Divi! I remembered you were going to be there around this time, will miss you and your hubby next month. I hope our trip is as wonderful as yours was. I am sure you were relaxing in your favorite pool spot Curious about the berries though, do you know what kind they are and what did they taste like? I will have to take notice of them this trip but not sure if I will try them or not Enjoy that retirement of yours and hopefully I'll see you in Aruba next Thanksgiving!

Hi Brenda, the cactus I'm talking about are the small round cactus with the red top. You see them all along the paths of the Divi. The berries on top are deep red and when they are ripe there is a small stem so you an pull them out easily without touching the prickly top of the cactus. They look like a small bright pink pepper and taste like a starchy strawberry with a kiwi interior. They can be a slightly bitter if not ripe. We will miss being at the Divi over Thanksgiving, but have been thinking about heading back in March. I'm sure you will have a great time and it will be here before you know it.
Oh, and I almost forgot, when we checked in we had a surprise. Since it was our sixth stay at the Divi they gave us Red Parrot Club t-shirts along with a voucher for $100 to use at choice of restaurants, activities etc. We chose chips at the Alahambra Casino. I was thrilled as it made us feel as though they really appreciate our business.
