    trip report jan 15-22

we have been back almost 2 weeks and all I can say is I wish we were still there! I am sure most would agree.....

15th- early morning 4;20 as we had to be at the airport at 6ish. (and not the best night of sleep, I think the kids were excited!!! Airport all went smoothly, even was able to bring a sealed shelf stable soy milk for my daughter. Left newark late but arrive aruba early! (it was raining when we landed. But hey we were in aruba!!!!)We just went to the Hard rock for something to eat. It was fine.

16th- Went to scotts brats for breakfast! (we ended up hear all but two morning!) Food was good, quick, and a good value! got a cab and went to the grocery store for more soy, and juice, water, and some snacks for the kids. (ended up at the wrong store, they didn't have any soy so our cab drive brought us to another and they had it! Thank god! I think we had the pool bar for lunch. Dinner was at tony Roma's. I had the ribs and filet, dh had the ribs. Ribs were very good. We really enjoyed it. Most of the day was spent pool side, and a few trips to the beach!

    17th--
Same pool beach, enjoying the great weather! We had reservations at Passions for 6. Both my dh and I had a shrimp dish it was good! (would go back here in a heart beat!) Watch the beautiful sun set. Which the kids enjoyed also. And even got a great family picture taken by our waitress with the sun setting the the back ground! No problems with bugs as I remember someone saying...

18th--same beach pool; I think we had pizza my son wanted for lunch. then we walked to see what to do for dinner. We ended up at Tangos. Dh had the filet, and I had shrimp scampi. Very Good!

19th--sat, We went down town shopping, had lunch downtown, it was nice because there were not any ships in. Came back and of course hit the pool!
We went to smokey joe's for dinner. Both Dh and I had the ribs, and I was not impressed at all. We both really didn't care for them. I was disappointed after all the good review I have read!

20th- starting to get sad as its coming to an end. Of course did the pool and the beach. Who could get enough of them.. Surely not me!!! We went to the bagel place for breakfast, ok but they sure are not NJ bagels!
I am sitting here trying to think of the pizza place we ate at and I can not. It was a fancy pizza place. very good pizza, (its right by the good gelato place).

21--Sad is really starting to set in... Did the pool and the beach of course. breakfast at Scotts brats, lunch pool side, and dinner for our last night we ate at senor frogs. (a very bad choice for our last night in aruba!) will not be going back there.

22- they crying has started... breakfast at scott brats, me and my daughter went for our last swim, dh and son took a walk. at 11 had to go up to the room to shower and pack, as check out is noon, and the crying bus was coming at 1230 for our 4pm flight.....

arrived home all of us in our shorts, me in my flip flops to 20 degrees! (we packed pants and shoes to put on... boy was that a wake up call!!!

Kids are already asking when we are going back!! yippie 3 to 1 in vote for aruba!!!!!

Sounds like you had a great trip and weather. I totally understand the 'sad days' as the week goes by. Hopefully the "one vote person" will turn their vote for Aruba and you will be back again soon :-)

Thanks for the trip report. We liked Scotts Bratts too for breakfast. I too am sorry to hear that Tony Romas had better ribs than Hollyood Smoke House. -HMH was on our next to do list. I know the feeling when you have to leave. EEEK!

I know the feeling all to well myself. Thanks for your trip report. I must try Scotts Bratts next time. I have also always gone to smokey joes although I missed it this time to incorporate some new places. I am surrpised there ribs were not up to par.

Now when we arrive in Aruba there is the group you can see waiting to leave in the open area. They always look so sad, and we look "happy" we r in Aruba and I always tell my husband next week we will be THEM and the happy people will be arriving. LOL. Well if DH is not a beach/pool person then I can see why he does not vote for it cause there is not much else to do. Pool or beach or beach or pool? which do I choose? LOL.

FYI my DW actually married a 'beach guy' .....Thanks for the report! Sounds like my kinda days.... hang at the beach... move to the pool.... have an Amstel Bright or three for lunch.... nap on the beach and have a nice dinner out! So sorry Smokey Joe's was a disappointment this year. We actually ate there 2x last July and both times were good! Tough to come home.... do like I do and enjoy Aruba thru other's trip reports!

We do the same thing. When we are arriving my DH looks at the sad people and gives them a "ha ha". I tell him not to do that because that will be us in two weeks. When it's our turn to leave and the people have deplaned and are coming into the gate my DH yells to me "don't look at them" lol.
