trip report june 14-21 CDM

Hi everyone we are back from sunny beautiful aruba.
My husband, daughter 24, son 18, and myself just back from aruba. this was the kids first trip. my second.
we stayed at Casa Del Mar 2 bedroom. Great location great & accomadatoins. the beach was wonderful. Happy hour 3 times a day. We arrived saturday at 1:30. rented a car from Aruba Royal (arubalisa recommended) great rates 25 % off. Got to cdm
round 3, dropped our bags and headed for the beach & happy hour. We were a bit tired so we ate at pizza bobs. great pizza.
Sunday went to the grocery store then beached all day .went down town to iguana joes for dinner. we had fetias (spell check) we got an order of chicken fitias and 1 steak. plenty for 4. we also had the bbq chix wings yum and pink iguna drinks. Monday we went on the jolly pirate where we met Arubalisa and family. (nice family) It was a fun time. 1 of the stops to the ship wreck was really rough. i even tried the rope swing. had dinner at the salt & pepper that night. everyone enjoyed there meal. Tuesday we toured the island in the rental car went to the light house the old natural bridge, san nicholas had dinner at bingos was not happy with this choose of resturant.
i was craving a big bingo burger from all the reviews. what a big disappointment. so over cooked and tasteless. cross bingos off my list for next time. Wednesday beached all day then went on the banana bus. fun fun fun time. the ad says 5 drinks included but there is more like 8. lots of fun stops a karokee bar, moombar down town, senior frogs. and one other local bar. we had a great crowd on the bus. albert was our driver lots of fun.
senior frogs was packed. the crew on the bus was alot of fun. they always had a watchfull eye on everyone. got in around 1:30 am. Thursday we did the kini kin atv tour. that was fun a bit dangerous getting to the natural pool. i was a little scared. very rough going to get to the natural pool. had dinner at smokey joes. wow the portions are hugh! we could have all shared an order of the ribs. The ribs we very good. had left overs for lunch the next day. Friday we beached most of the day then went down town for some shopping. the kids went on the tatto boat while we had dinner at gianni's. i had shrimp scampi husband had veal parm. both very good. went to the casino to end the night. broke even so i feel like a winner . Boy a week goes by so fast.
had great weather. it rained 1 morning around 6:30 am. just perfect.
we did eat breakfast on the balcony every day bacon eggs, pancakes. french toast. hubby and i took turns making breakfast.
well thats it for now.

Aruba Trip

Sounds like you had a wonderful time. We own at Casa del Mar and returned home May 30th after two wonderful weeks
We are leaving again for a short trip this Thursday and return home on Tuesday, July 1st. I am glad you enjoyed the pizza at Pizza Bob's. We nixed the place this last trip because we ran into a couple of different people that mentioned the original owner of Pizza Bobs sold the place to a local person and the pizza was soggy and terrible. Maybe those people had off nights? When we arrive the first day, we like to go to an easy comfortable restaurant where we can get in and get out and make it an early evening. We used to love Tony Roma's but since this past trip found that they raised the prices which were much higher then when we went there last November. Regarding Tony Roma's, we spent $80 for two diet cokes, 2 orders of full slab ribs, baked potato and corn, half small onion loaf. For that amount of money there are better restaurants where we wouldn't mind spending $80 for two and have a much better meal. We cannot drink alcohol beverages because we are both diabetics and take a lot of medication. Diet Cokes are fine for us. We are staying at Westin for this next trip and wondering where we can get a nice quick and good dinner in the area of all the new restaurants and shopping accross from Holiday Inn and Hyatt. Also, does anyone know if Madame Janette re-opened after their vacation. We missed MJ this past trip. Thanks in advance for the suggestions

Sorry to hear about Tony Romas. We went last year and were looking forward to going again. We are heading down this weekend 6/29 for two weeks. I didn't realize the shops across from the Holiday Inn were open. It will be nice to explore all over again. My sister-in-law is down there now and made reservations for Madame J for this week so it must be open.

I agree about Tony Romas. This used to be out place to go on the 1st night we arrived in Aruba. I stopped going 2 years ago because I felt the ribs were not as good as they once were, and the prices had gone way up.
