Take it from me (I fly 100,000 miles a year), ALWAY ALWAYS ALWAYS pick your seats when you're booking. That confirms you a seat and they can't take it away from you (well 99.9% of the time). Find the cheapest flight using kayak.com and then book directly on the carriers website and CHOOSE YOUR SEATS. Its the people that dont pick their seats that get bumped.

I always do as I like to be on the left flying into Aruba. I had great seats picked on our original flights, but when our flight got cancelled last minute, I couldn't pick seats - now I know that was a hint it was overbooked. It worked out ok. People were so nice and moved around so my boyfriend and I could sit together. The only time we didn't was Providence to Atlanta and I met a very nice couple. I have to say I like flying from Providence way better than having to go to Logan and we're only 20 minutes from Boston. The hour drive to RI was worth a lot less hassle at the airport and we got a coupon to park that made parking at the airport less than a taxi to and from Logan!!

Yeah I have about a 55min drive to Logan and i prefer to fly out of Manchester because it is a lot less stressful but the flight selection just isnt as plentiful.

We live in RI...less than 25 minutes to Providence( TF GREEN)...however, we choose to fly outa logan. WHY you ask...direct flights and price. Providence is significantly higher & most of the connections thru Miami or Atlanta do not give us enuf "comfort" time for connecting. Our drive into boston is an hour. I know it sounds like a hassle, it just works for us money wise..

    "Brown lady:
1 oz each of vodka, Kaluha and Baileys. l/2 oz of coco Lopez. Blend. Add ice. Blend till thick and creamy.

    OR

1 oz each of: Coconut Cream, Coffee Liqueur, Irish Cream, Vodka

CindyO - Didn't realize the price would be different flying out of Providence - and yes, we were a little nervous on connect times as we had less than an hour. Luckily it all worked out this time. I guess I'll just have to take a look at it next year. Have fun in 2 weeks! I'm jealous - and I just got back!!! Your kids are very lucky...and so are you to have those memories. Have Fun!!! Can't wait for trip report - I live by these things!!

Are you kidding? that gave him a 24hr pass to do WHATEVER he wanted. He probably went on a bender at Foxwoods.

I am sorry you had a bad experience Hockeymom, but glad you had a great time. Don't feel bad about not going off the property to eat--we have done that at Occidental and really didn't care. We just want to RELAX. The food is great at the Occidental, but I am like you, if I don't have to cook it and clean it up--I am good. LOL
We had planned a 15 day trip this year--only to be told last week that they had canceled the flight coming home. They said we could fly to New Jersey have a 40 min. layover then on to Houston. My husband has MS and it would almost be impossible for us to get to another gate in 40 minutes and being on a direct flight from Aruba to Houston is so much better on him. SO we had to change our flight to leave on Saturday instead of Sunday. I was so upset at first, but we have to be happy for the time we DO get on this beautiful island. I guess it is good that we found out before we got to the airport on Sunday to find out there weren't any flights. This is all thru Continental--they also took care of our cost of the room at the Occidental--well we got our money back. LOL
