Some of you may remember me mentioning that we have tried Iguana Cantina several times in the past with less than stellar results. Well, we met Scott and Leslie there for dinner and had a great meal. I was so glad because I have always wanted the place to equal its sister restaurants and finally tonight it did. I had the chicken tostada which was enough for three people and DW had a steak quesadilla. Our food and margaritas were really good. After dinner we all went over to MooMba to have a few drinks and listen to Equator play. Our little party broke up around 11:00 because not all of us were on vacation.

Thank you for sharing Walt! I enjoy reading about your trip. We love bingo, always a great dinner stop. Scott's brats is our favorite lunch stop, we visit almost everyday when vacationing in Aruba.

8/29- We woke up early, real early at 4:30, to the fire alarm going off in our building. It was an inconvenience, but we really felt sorry for the parents who had to wake up their little kids and hustle them down the stairs and out in the parking lot. The excellent staff here at the Surf Club determined it was a false alarm and gave the all clear. So we went back to the room and even though we tried to go back to sleep, it just wasn’t happening. So instead we got up, had a quick breakfast in the room and went grocery shopping at SuperFoods and Ling’s. The rest of the day was just a lazy, sit by the pool day. We did walk back down to Carlito’s for happy hour and stopped by Casa Tua for another terrific pizza. As you have probably guessed by now, we wrapped up our evening at MooMba, where we found out one of our favorite waitresses was leaving the island to go back to Holland. DW asked her if she couldn’t find “Mr. Right” here and if she was going back home to search. She replied that she had indeed found the right guy here but he lived in Holland and they had met while he was visiting Aruba. We are very happy for her. After a couple of drinks and conversation, we came back to the room and did a bit of laundry before calling it a night.

Cindy, we're in the Spyglass building. To be honest palapas seem to be no problem. We come here often at this time of year, and I've never seen it so empty. Lots of folks checking out today, but I haven't noticed a lot checking in. Also for the first time we have seen security going around a tagging chairs with two hour warnings in the mornings. The tags are like the paper bracelets you get at events showing you're of age, paid, etc. I guess they know when they place the tags and come back and remove peoples things after the time limit. I haven't seen them actually remove anyone's things, but I have heard folks talking about it. I will try to find out more at the owners meeting Tuesday.

Funny you should mention casinos. We aren't big gamblers, but do enjoy the entertainment on occasion. Actually we were talking this morning about the fact we hadn't been to any yet. My SIL is joining us in a few days, We seem to go regularly when she is with us.

8/30- My reports will start to get a bit boring now as we are pretty much into a routine. Again we got up early, but by design this time, and hit the gym. After working out we returned to the room for breakfast. We drove out to California Light and then stopped by Alto Vista Chapel. It’s always a peaceful place (till the DePalm tour bus shows up ) and we also enjoy the views from both. It had been a couple of years since we had visited either place so it was nice to go see them again. From there we went to Fermin’s BBQ for lunch. We really had more of a snack, but plan on returning for ribs some night soon. Then back to the pool to veg out till dinner. We also had dinner in the room and went down to MooMba for a couple. MooMba always packs in the tourists and locals alike on Sundays, and tonight was no exception.

Sounds great so far! Funny how it seems boring to you who is there enjoying paradise and typing the same thing each day, but to those of us stuck off-island it's very entertaining! Thanks for checking in

8/31- Another relaxing day. We stuck to our morning routine and sat by the pool for a couple of hours. For lunch we wandered down to Scott’s Brats. I can’t get enough of that Italian Beef sandwich with hot giardiniera, and DW had a Doc’s brat. We chatted with them for a while and headed back to the pool to hang out before going to the BB party at Amsterdam Manor. It was a small but fun turnout, and we’re looking forward to going back next week. After the party broke up we took a quick trip to Ling’s for supplies including a delicious Boterkoek. We had it for dessert with leftovers for dinner. We stayed in for a change and read and caught up with email, etc.
