We arrived at the interview an hour early, were greeted by Officer Wheeler and taken right in. After a painless 10 minute process of fingerprinting and pictures, and an explanation of the Global Entry and TSA Pre-check benefits we were on our way back to the gate to await our flight to Aruba. We had filled out the ED forms for Aruba online before we left so we flew through immigration and after grabbing our bags were out of the airport in a flash. Royal was waiting for us with a nice Kia Picante and we were on our way. The traffic through downtown was terrible due to some King’s Day activities and was actually detoured around the back side of the Ren, so we stopped at West Deck for an arrival drink before heading on to the Holiday Inn. Check in was a breeze since they have a dedicated line for Priority members. We were upgraded to an ocean view room in the Sea tower and had a reserved palapa all ready for us for the entire stay. The palapa is in the perfect location, just steps from the water, restrooms and bar. Yesterday was our first full day and we went to SuperFoods (it was closed Wednesday for King’s day) and grabbed a few things, then hung out on the beach all day. It was a great start to our vacation. We had dinner at Casa Tua and a few after dinner drinks at MooMba.

I'm glad to hear that you all are having such a great time. What a clever idea to do the global entry stuff in Miami on your layover. Like you, there's no way that we'd make that drive to Dulles to do it. We avoid 95 past Fredericksburg like the plague. Enjoy the rest of your trip. Thanks for taking the time to write.

We noticed that they had chairs, but didn't note the price. I will check the next time we go and let you know.

Yesterday was one of our favorite kind of days. We sat by the pool, floated in the lazy river and pretty much did nothing. Dinner was at Che Bar with after dinner drinks at Moomba. The place was hopping as it always is on Sunday nights, plus with Monday being a holiday, there was a much bigger crowd. We will be celebrating the Labor Day holiday today, by doing as little as possible Today may be much more of the same, but tomorrow is the big birthday surprise for DW... stay tuned!

Walt..if i am not mistaken, are you and your bride usually September Aruba travelers?
If so...do you see any difference in the crowds and or the weather and water temperature?

Yes, for the past few years we have come for my birthday in September. We can actually travel any time we want, but we usually come at the end of summer after the kids are back in school. This time we have seen no crowds anywhere. For those who are familiar with the Surf Club and the crazy chair tagging ritual, there are chairs available all day, even in prime spots, and there are many palapas available. The pools aren't crowded, the restaurants are empty, it's great. The weather is unusual, winds come and go and it's been cloudy every morning till around 11:00, except for today. The water seems a bit cooler than usual, but you can still walk right in. We are really enjoying this time of year.

We didn't look for chairs like the Tommy Bahama chair but we did buy two zero gravity loungers - they were a steal (a steal for Aruba) at 108 AWG (about $60 USD). We wanted more but the stock ran out.

Thanks, ACT. We are thinking about renting a house for our next trip and will need to find some easily portable chairs to take to the beach daily. Unfortunately, my husband is not a pool person.

Hey Diane: Check with the company/owner you're renting through first - we've rented a number of villas over the years and each one had chairs (and some floaties) that we took to the beach. You may luck out rather than having to buy!

Again we lounged by the pool most of the day yesterday. As many of you know, our gambling is pretty much non-existent, but we allow ourselves to play pool side bingo for a shot at a free drink coupon or the daily jackpot. Well yesterday DW won that jackpot. It was only 140 bucks, but you'd have thought she hit power ball! We strolled down to Carlito's for a late lunch and a celebratory drink and headed back to the room. We had leftovers for dinner and rested up in anticipation of today's big surprise.
