We are here in Paradise. Day 1

I don't usually post butI have enjoyed everyone's entries all year so I decided to share our adventure. We are back home in Aruba. We arrived yesterday with some glitches from Southwest. We sat on the runway twice for take off from Hartford and arrival into Orlando for about 25 minutes each time. That was okay because things happen. BUt leaving ,MCO ffor Aruba we had a navigation issue . WE all boarded and waited until the captain came on and told us about the issue. HE told us that had to shut down the power. WEll, it got a little interesting with being hot,air quality really thick ,people coughing. I was feeling my anxiety kicking up and had to talk myself through it for 25 minutes. I felt really claustrophobic and that never happens and was thankful when we departed. The good news we were only 15 minutes late in landing and it took us 32 minutes to go through customs and retrieve our luggage, We were on the street waiting for our rental and dashed off quickly. We went to Lings, checked in ate at Costa Linda and watched our first sunset. Friends told us it rained really hard on Thursday evening, streets flooded and Friday rained some during the day also. When we arrived it was much cooler than home and quite cloudy. We enjoyed some wine and called it a night early because of our long travel day. This morning it was a little cloudy and we walked our 4mile trek from Costa Linda down to the Tam and back. Wow, the beach is as wide as 3football fields. We were surprised with a rainbow shining on us. So spiritual and beautiful. Around 8 ,My hubby informed me that the power had gone out in our timeshare. We later found out that the whole island was out but with generators the kitchen and pool were working. We had such a great breakfast at Cl and the staff welcomed us with open arms. We couldn't pay our bill via credit card so they said come back later to pay when the power comes on. Wow, they would never happen in the states. Just enjoying the azure water and beautiful beaches. The Electric Festival is on Eagle Beach 3-3 Friday and sat. 3-12 Sunday. Lots of bass thumping in the air. Just enjoying our lazy afternoon reading and relaxing...I will continue to post .....Sunset number one just okay....power back on here. 😎

Gee your first day was quite an adventure between the 2 delays and then power outage. I fly out of BDL and was wondering how Southwest would be. Of course these things happen on any airline, give you credit I would be totally freaking out and wanting to switch planes Now it is relaxing time for you and of course we all look forward to hearing all about your trip! Sounds like the beach is awesome, hope the weather improves for you as well as the beautiful sunsets. Have fun and don't forget to take us along for the ride

I love reading trip reports, so thanks for sharing! It helps us until it's our turn.

I definitely feel your pain about the wait on the plane. Bad enough to be stuck in a sardine can, but to have the air off....ugh! Glad you are there now and relaxing. Looking forward to following your reports.
