We made it to Aruba... our first time!

After de-icing in MSP, we arrived 20 minutes late for our 50 minute layover in Charolotte, we ran the whole way from gate B3 to D11!

We made our connection in Charlotte (this was after US Airways let us travel the day before in anticipation of the storms). Did you know that US Airways sells Duty Free liquor on board? We purchase 1 lt of Absolute Vodka for $18!!! Bully and his partner met us at the airport, they stopped at Ling and Sons for us. STICKER SHOCK before we realized the amounts were in Florian dollars... ouch! We checked into the Brickell Bay Beach Club... have you stayed in the regular rooms at the Flamingo in Las Vegas? May be a little better rooms here. We used our "free" $10 bets at the Holiday Inn, don't bother, you have to bet at least another $10 of your own money and lose it in 2 minutes. And the Sports Book was not taking SuperBowl bets nor College Basketball bets, what's up with that? We stopped at Piet Pier for some Karoke... good times! We had 20 wings at Hooters on the way home... $3.50 for blue cheese and celery and additional $1.50 for ranch! Great first 8 hours in ARuba!

Day 2 - My boyfriend purchased $35 dollars of unlimited wireless online from Setar. He worked most of our 2nd day here, while I tanned at the Brickell Bay pool... he brought his laptop out for a few hours to join me. We had a great Cuban sandwich with french fries and a Miami Vice and Strawberry daiquiri from the swim up bar... pricey but I think that's Aruba. He left his computer in the room, we packed up our own beverages, and we went to the beach for our first Aruban Sunset... beautiful! The sand is so soft, and the ocean water temperature was so perfect... we are loving Aruba!

Day 3 - we slept in, nice beds here at Brickell Bay, then headed to Bugaloe Beach Bar for a few drinks, a chicken wrap and bittenballen, the wrap was good, bb a little different . We then walked all the way down to the Divi and the end of the line for the Palm Beach... lots of fun things to see and the beautiful ocean! After a few hours of laying out by the Piet Pier, we went back to the hotel get ready for the night. Now it was happy hour time, so we decided to beach bar hop to wait for the sunset. First stop was the tiki hut bar in front of Playa Linda. Met some nice Playa Linda longtimers (Duffy and Eddie) and had a bucket of Balashi (hh price of 4 for $12, but remember these are the 8oz bottles) while the men talked Superbowl. Duffy had brought down a Green Bay Packers flag that was now proudly flying in the bar. Time to move on to Pelican Pier for a Polar (hh price of 2 for $9.45) and see our 2nd sunset! We continued on past the Holiday Inn to MooMba Beach Bar for some more Balashi and some pretty good $9 nachos. Lots of good people watching here, as well as some Beach Tennis! Mosey'd through one of the Marriott's pools which has a great looking swim up bar with some nice flat screen TVs. Stopped by Champions Sports Bar to grab another Balashi, on our way to the Marriott Casino. We had fun playing a slot machine for almost 2 hours. Slow drink service here, it was non existent our first 45min there. Waited for a rain storm to end, and then walked back through the mall on our way to the hotel. Stopped at Tomato Charlie's for a really good pizza ($19 for a large sausage, mushroom, green peppers, and onions). Time to get some sleep before our tour with Cerry the next day!
