Exclamation Aruba Marriott Pool Renovation Starts August 18

http://www.arubaplayground.com/renovation/hotels/hotel-information/travel/auaar-aruba-marriott/Pool-Area-19.html

"Pool Area
The pool area at our Resort will receive a facelift starting August 18th until the end of September, 2009. During this time we will be resurfacing the pool. In addition, the surrounding rock formations will be part of a beautification project. Therefore our pool facilities will be closed for an estimated six weeks.

All guests staying at our Resort from August 18th until the end of September can enjoy the pool facilities at Marriott's Ocean Club, adjacent to our hotel. This freeform pool features a spacious pool deck, several secluded swimming areas with a very comfortable swim up bar. To snuggle up after your swim, deck chairs are provided for a perfect lounge moment with your favorite book, or to get an afternoon snooze.

Have a playful day."

I am staying at the Marriott Casino in the early part of Sept. I called the hotel and asked if they will be undergoing pool renovations at that time and they assured me they will be completed by then. I have read what their hotel web site says but they told me differently. I called the Marriott reservation line as well and they said all renovations will be complete by then.

Does anyone have any updated info on this?

Carol-
I also called, since I am staying at the Marriott starting Sept. 15th. The folks on the phone, even the supervisor, had no idea what I was talking about, even though I told them the information was posted on the website. I am concerned that we will be sharing a pool with 2 hotels worth of visitors.....

The website http://www.arubaplayground.com proved to be a reliable source during the prior stages of the Marriott's renovations.

"End of September" is not very specific, so if you will be traveling near then or even early October, I would go with an "open mind".

Many projects in Aruba tend to go slower than anticipated, but then again, the Riu renovation was completed in record time.

I would imagine, no one, including the resort, could give you a specific date. Imo though it is inexcusable that a supervisor wouldn't even know about an upcoming renovation.

Thumbs down Shame on Marriott!!!

I just spoke with Marriott Customer Service and was told it was a conscious decision by the hotel management to NOT disclose the pool renovation on their homepage. It was also decided not to contact those with existing reservations nor show a warning (as most websites do) to those making new reservations about the pool closure. Based on these obvious deceptions (Marriotts words not mine), I'm not surprised that the hotel told Carol_in_pittsburgh that the renovations would be completed prior to her arrival.

i do not think that marriott is trying to mislead anyone.
i bet it is all about communication or the lack thereof.
